The 404 error page works, but only when prefixed by “http://callitscience.com/index.php”

Without “index.php”, no error page displays.

The error page isn’t very useful if you have to try to get to it
Is there a way to solve this issue?

    Hi,

You will have to enable ‘Use URL rewriting’ as well in order to remove index.php from URLs. More detail can be found in Joomla! official article here.

You are absolutely right, it worked. I deleted the existing .htaccess file and replaced it with htaccess.txt

To do this in cPanel, you have to use the Legacy File Manager and check “Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)”. Delete the existing .htaccess and rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess.

    Thanks for the help!
