Hi,
My site was working fine until a couple of hours ago when it just stopped, the homepage now gives a 404 error so the website cannot be accessed, but the admin side works perfect. What can I do?
I looked around but I have no idea what caused this. Running version 1.5.3, and heres the URL: http://lemetropolitainusa.com/
This is the error:

1. an out-of-date bookmark/favourite
2. a search engine that has an out-of-date listing for this site
3. a mistyped address
4. you have no access to this page
5. The requested resource was not found.
6. An error has occurred while processing your request. Please try one of the following pages:

Hi gouaf,
If you are using Joomla 1.5x did you answer Yes to SEO Specifications (Administrator window)? I get the same error. Check, and Answer No. and see if you get your page back.
If the SEO Specifications is the problem, VisiGod has posted a potential solution to this. There might be other reasons that could trigger the above error message.

June 16, 2008 at 1:26 pm #253907Thank you all for your advice–
Should I reinstall the template or the entire platform?

-gouaf</blockquote>No gouaf,
You do not have to re-install your template or the entire platform. To determine if it is a simple SEO Specifications problem:
Go to your Administrator Control Panel:
Administrator => Site => Global Configuration => and to the right is SEO Setting =>
SEO Settings
Search Engine Friendly URLs No Yes
Check No. If you get your site back, then it is related to SEO Settings. VisiGod has a long discussion on this that may solve the problem (check his recent postings). Check his listings here:
http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/seriously-lets-get-a-new-fixed-release-request-1-4/
However, I am just looking at an installation where I did not encounter that problem. It is found in another server. There are times when the settings by your hosting service can cause the problem.
I would advise exploring the suggestion of hain too.

Could you expand more on this. I encounter the same problem sometimes but not sure exactly what is causing it.
Thanks.

June 16, 2008 at 6:24 pm #253970Thank you all for your great contribution, and especially Hain!!!
The problem was, as he explained very well, I had accidentally deleted the com_content component. So I reinstalled it from the test site on my computer and my site is now back online!!!So if you have the same problem, please take the time to patiently go thru your folders and you will certainly see that one is missing.
Thank you all: Hainn84, cgc0202, and everybody else who contributed!!!

Hi gouaf,
The errors you showed here seems to be triggered in Joomla 1.5x-Teline or clean installation of Joomla 1.5x alone.
I check my components directory, and I have a com_content directory in there;
components => com_content => (files and folders inside):/components/com_content/content.php
/components/com_content/controller.php
/components/com_content/helpers/
/componentscom_content/helpers/route.php
/components/com_content/index.html
/components/com_content/metadata.xml
/components/com_content/models/
/components/com_content/router.php
/components/com_content/view.php
/components/com_content/views/for helpers
/components/com_content/helpers/
/components/com_content/helpers/icon.php
/components/com_content/helpers/index.html
/components/com_content/helpers/query.phpfor models
/components/com_content/models/
/components/com_content/models/archive.php
/components/com_content/models/article.php
/components/com_content/models/category.php
/components/com_content/models/frontpage.php
/components/com_content/models/index.html
/components/com_content/models/section.phpfor views

/components/com_content/views/category/
/components/com_content/views/frontpage/
/components/com_content/views/index.html
/components/com_content/views/section/Is there anything missing in the list above?
Thanks.
