February 19, 2009 at 8:18 pm #138368Hello,
I am experiencing some issues with my site.
Every item I click on gives me a 404 error message.
Background: recently, I installed the sh404SEF and I was not happy with its job. I then removed it . And I believe that started the problem but I am not sure. when you click on an item, you will see that the path it uses is not normal either.
Please help.

February 19, 2009 at 8:24 pm #292577In the backend, switch off all the sef things. Then clear the cache. You may need to re-install sh404SEF first then clear the cached list of url’s before disabling it then removing it.
At the moment, the list of url’s is still present but as the component is not there to point them correctly you get the 404.

I have installed sh404SEF again. But it doesn’t seem to be working.

February 19, 2009 at 11:16 pm #292599When you installed 404SEF, did you edit your .htaccess file as instructed in the Readme.txt?

February 20, 2009 at 9:40 pm #292700when in doubt that htaccess is causing the 404’s then you can set 404sef to work without htaccess file.
If you disable 404sef then make sure you also disable your integrated SEF option already integrated in joomla.
