May 26, 2009 at 2:36 pm #141461I have some problems with google. I upload my sitemap to google webmaster and I have a lot of 404 errors like this.
But this is not a page or a link, the right string to the article is:
Does anyone know how can I solve it?

May 26, 2009 at 3:23 pm #305900Did you change any SEF settings? Did you alter any menu items?
Does anyone know how can I solve it?
Never upload a sitemap to google especially when your site generates dynamic URLS. Let Google index and map the site itself and then Google will correct itself when it re-indexes.
*This is NOT a professional opinion 😀
I’m sure mj1254 (or is it 56:p I can never remember) will have better advice when he sees the thread.

May 26, 2009 at 10:13 pm #305917I think what he is saying is the URL showing in google search results is going to a 404 error.
Eg. If google indexed the site a week ago and then you changed one character of a parent menu item – every link under that parent menu item will now have a different URL. Likewise if you alter a setting in sh404 or change a Rewrite rule it can alter several of your URLs. Google will still have it’s indexed URL but that will now show a 404.
It happened to Chris (questbg) last week when he accidentally swapped an old menu for a live one and all of a sudden all googles links were wrong.

May 26, 2009 at 11:02 pm #305921I’ve never used sh404 so I ain’t too familiar with it. If he has changed a sef setting it could mean every page indexed by google (could be thousands) now goes to a 404. :-[

May 28, 2009 at 4:25 pm #306044So the next question is How long does Google and other search engines keep the old/not in use link in their system?
Do they ever delete them?

May 28, 2009 at 8:04 pm #306055Thank all for your help.
but the problem is this
I send the sitemap to google and it shows a lot of 404 error. This error are not pages or links on mi site and do not appear in the sitemap.
The 404 error looks like this:
this is not a page or link in mi site. The real page is:
There is a part of the string that is repeated twice, in the middle and at the end. (analisis/articulos-por-perfil-geografico/perfiles-geograficos)
for some reason when joomla made the source code of the page, create this strange string, that google shows like an error.
I need some assistance.

May 28, 2009 at 9:54 pm #306063Do you use sh404sef?
If you do you can send http://npsglobal.org/esp/index.php/a…es-geograficos to your alias section and when pressed it will open in http://npsglobal.org/esp/index.php/a…el-marin-bosch and not show as a 404.
Is the 404 link a page you used to have, which has been deleted?
