August 30, 2011 at 2:58 am #167969Events are important news in any news website. The problem is that
– they often don’t have a specific date to be used for article ordering (example: a several weeks exhibition);
– you may want to display an article image size which is larger than the image size for normal news.After several tests I concluded that normal news and events cannot be shown in the same bulletin as the news article order uses to be ‘most recent first’ while event articles should be organized in the inverse order (the next day event first, distant future events last). But as there are also event articles for longer periods the best way is manual article ordering. Another advantage of a separate bulletin would be that you can choose another image size.
Problems found:
Changing the article order and the image size configuration in the BULLETIN module only affects the article VIEW but not the way articles are displayed on the frontpage. Question: Do I have to create additional JANEWSPRO module(s) for an Event bulletin. Or am I talking about an ‘impossible mission’?

see the second bulletin (Edição Local 2: Eventos). It is showing an event beginning on october 22th first. Should be the last article.TomC ModeratorTomC

August 30, 2011 at 3:36 am #409539Theoretically, if you want to use JANEWSPRO for these two elements – but you want them to display chronologically inversely – then you will probably need to use two instances of this module and configure the parameters relatively for each.

August 31, 2011 at 1:39 pm #409815Hi Tom Crawford,
You are right. I created and configured a second module and it works. The only problem is that the event bulletin is displayed in the last position. A solution could be creating a separate JANEWSPRO module for every bulletin in order to be able to choose any position. Lot of work… Another option is to spend some bucks and buy a specific extension for events. This is what I will do. Anyway, thanks!

Well, I hope that I was able to assist a little, at least?Perhaps, if you discover a more efficient solution, you can revisit this thread and share your findings.
GOOD LUCK, my friend !!!

P.S. (How did you know my last name?) 😎
