    swemmel;35043Hi There,

    nag nag nag

JoomlArt releases all there new templates in J1.0.13 and the latest J1.5 release. The J1.5 release always comes a little later than the J1.0.13.

I disagree that most “real” developers rush to go into J1.5. A lot of developers will wait until J1.5 is really stable. Also there is the issue that most commercial extension-makers will NOT move into J1.5, because of the license question. The will or stay with J1.0 or make a switch to the latest Mambo. And a lot of free extensions are not switched too.

Why not stay with J1.0.13 ?? Why throw away a pair of good shoes? Only to buy new ones, wich you have to walk a couple of miles to fit on your feet?

    Kind Regards,

    Peter

Never said real developers rush to use j1.5 said most are starting to use it, why build a brand new site in1.013 when rc4 is available/? I was thinking most devs don’t want to have to change a live 1.013 site to a 1.5 site thats what I meant.. Seems since you are a paid JA man now your views have become more moderate than they used to be Peter?

Joomlart should not release a template till it has been tested and a decent guide is made for it not a cut & paste job that still carries the name Erica etc :)and if they cannot do a 1.013 and a 1.5 version they shouldn’t release a template till they have it all done, it seems JA doesn’t have the staff or time to properly design templates these days, that’s why we’re seeing throw togethers and very minimalist creations.

go back to a one template per month and make a new creation in both 1.013 and 1.5 compatible with a proper guide and proper industry standard WEB graphics ( png :)) with a properly presented full sliced graphic of the site?

If JA had any respect for its membership they’d pop up a proper poll saying do we want 1 dual Joomla template with all the above per month or two substandard poorly documented psd crap source files only?

How big are they Peter? want to try a official poll and let the membership decide the future of the templates?

    Respectfully ShannonN

Ouch….and all that from a Member of the Month!!!!

I have to agree with Shannon on most of it…I would prefer to see the “CLEARLY TALENTED” joomlart developers doe one very good template per month and support the forums rather than leave unanswered reasonable requests/questions and poorly functioning add ons still available for download (ie Justicia)

I am a member of a few template clubs and the stuff here is very well done but its on a downhill slide right now adding to the frustration is the total lack of support from the development team.

Its great there are some well meaning members (Miccas in particular) however they dont know it all and try as they might there are many unanswered REASONABLE questions in these forums.

As for the pasting together of older templates to make a new one. I understand that much of the code is the same so why re-write it. (After all you only have to look at csszengarden.com to see how much different a site can look with the same html and a new style sheet) BUT

It is POOR FORM and pretty slack to leave the old template names in the xml files amongst other things and Ill keep going back to it..poor form to leave faulty modules up for people to download (eg..justicia!)

so KHAN LE KHAN WE get some support…..slow down, make one good template a month and look after your business by supporting the members

I am a member couple f a other template clubs too and I still likes the Joomlart templates suited best for me. They’re kind of scandinavian design like pretty much and everybody should know, that is the best design on this planet. 😎

This template may be simple; it may lack ornate embellishments, or any embellishments, for that matter. But, in this case, I’m ok with that. JA Drimia’s strength, for me, lies in its superb layout.

I like the fact that important navigation links are grouped together in the “left” and “right” columns. And that the “contact us” section is prominently displayed right underneath–where I think it belongs, in relation to the navigation section.

I also like that the “Popular” and “Latest” modules follow the article section–but not before a banner advertisement is thrown in, where it is sure to be seen. Again, it makes sense for article-related modules to be grouped together–in this case, on the right side of the page.

Everything flows nicely, and is easy for the eye to follow.

And still there’s some nifty, dynamic modules at the top, just under the masthead, that can be used to draw visitors’ attention to more notable aspects of the website.

Remember, any superfluous design elements added to the template threatens to take attention away from the content and the ultimate response you want from visitors. Add extraneous elements at your own risk.

It’s clean and very well organized. I, for one, will be VERY judicial with what I add to it!

Finally, this is not to say I don’t revel in the more design-oriented templates that grace this site from time to time. But this time, I’m grateful for a sensible design that’s purposeful in its presentation–no showboating.
