    Hello/Bonjour

Congratulations/Felicitations with the logo … that was my first job too!

OK. What you want is a ‘banner’ at the side of the top logo, like the banner at the bottom of your demo site?

However, if you want to keep the login/dates, etc., this does not leave much space for a banner?

Perhaps best to leave the header area free (just logo and user info) and place the banner somewhere else on the page (below the video?).

Alors, bon chance et bon courage!!

    Salutations
    Chris

    Chris

    Hi Everyone

What victortopper is really trying to acheive here is exactly what our good friend “mayhesla” did with his ‘Site of the Month’ over at 3wpoker:

He would like a banner across the main news section, in first position above the articles. Please could somebody explain how to do this?

    Thanks
    Chris

    You mean like this?

Banner Module at the Top of the Front Page News]

Edit: The original link here was removed. For best implementation of this tutorial, please refer to the website of Chris, which demonstrates a sophisticated implementation of this tutorial, customized for Joomla 1.5x. The site of Victor uses Joomla 1.0x.

Ana (see below), correctly pointed out that the procedure demonstrated here is applicable for almost all the modules.

    ********************

    In the sample shown,

    1. Go to Modules Manager

    2. Make a copy of the Banners module
=>To do this, find “Banners” module
=> click box to the left of “Banners” module
=> find “Copy” icon at the top right
=> when you click the “Copy” icon you will create “Copy of Banners” (it will show just below “Banners“)

    3. Rename “Copy of Banners
=> Click “Copy of Banners” module
=> this will transport you to the Site Module: Edit [ Copy of Banners ] window

=> Rename “Copy of Banners” (maybe to) Banners 2 module

    4. Edit other settings below the (renamed) Banners 2
Just below the Title (now renamed) Banners 2, you will see

=> Show title: No Yes => Click Yes

=> Position => Select JA News

=> Module Order: => Select JA News Frontpage

=> Access Level: => Highlight Public

=> Published: No Yes => Select Yes

=> ID => place a different ID Number (not already in the IDs of the modules => this is very important if you want the banners here to be different from the Banner (below)

then Save ( => see top right and click “Save” icon)

This will transport you back to the Module Manager [ Site ]

    5. In the Module Manager [ Site ], find these modules

    => JA News Frontpage

    =>Banners 2

    =>JA News

in the Position (ja_news) =>it is very critical that all the above three modules must be in ja_news Position

    6. Place the Banners 2 module at the top (#1) in the ja_news position

=>Use the Move down icon to bring JA News Frontpage below the B]Banners 2 [/B]

    7. Check your site
=>you should see something like this:

Edit: The original like here was removed. For best implementation of this, please refer to the website of Chris, which demonstrates a very advanced implementation of this tutorial, customized for Joomla 1.5x. The site of Victor uses Joomla 1.0x.

If not, review the steps outlined above, again — until you get it correctly.

    Good luck.

    Cornelio

Note: I will remove the site link after you read this.

    Hi victortopper,

Your logo is touching the top, you may want to add more space.

The default registration-login included in the Joomla 1.0x-JA Teline is not very secure. You will get many bot or manual spam registrations, it can even be exploited to attack your site.

If you use the Joomla 1.0x, a slightly added protection would be to use the registration-login component-module called Community Builder (CB) by Joomlapolis. The CB also comes with a Captcha plugin to add further security. With the Community Builder (CB), you can set it so that as the Webmaster you have approve any registration before the registrant is fully approved to login to your site.

The Community Builder (CB) by Joomlapolis has a Manual for sale ($20?) if you want to know more how CB works, to learn more about how to set up the Registration-login. Also, Community Builder (CB) is more than just the Registration-Login module. As the name implies, it has more features to build a community among your registered members.

If you use Community Builder (CB) you need to disable the default Registration-Login. If not, they may use the default Registration-Login and it gets confusing since there will be two sets of registration-login.

    Hi victortopper,

Did you look at the link I included? I am not sure if that is what you want. It seems to be what Chris translated that you want.

There might just be a language barrier. Maybe Chris (questbg) can explain it better with you in French.

Everything I explained is possible with what is in your site now. I based my answer from what Chris explained from what you want, and what I saw in the image with the arrow.

I do not have a background on this actually, but I will try to help you if I can — at least the easy ones. Someone I would recommend here who has helped me a lot is Menalto.

It is actually very easy victortopper, once you learn how to do this. You can do the same with other modules.

Since you are using Joomla 1.0x, do not forget my other suggestion to use Community Builder for your registration-login, instead of the default.

    Hi Chris,

I did not know that you posted here already. I relayed the message to you in response to your posting in Rant.
