Hello:

I am using JA Vintas, with the brown layout, and my client has asked me to place a large black stripe across the top where the logo sits.

Essentially he wants it to be about 3 inches high and go across so that his logo stands out.

Is there an easy way to do that?

Right now its difficult to guess the issue and give solution to you. It would be awesome if you can possibly include URL of your site and a screenshot and description on that particular screenshot on what you would like to do. I shall help you out then.
