    Hi Everyone

I’ve noticed lots of people asking about how to get rss feeds displaying on their site … here’s a quick and easy walk through using a simple module:

    First of all, go here:

    http://joomla.daveslist.co.nz/download/joomla-1.5/slick-rss-1.5/details.php

and download the module (I’m using the Slick RSS 1.5 version).

In Joomla Admin, go to ‘Extension’ menu and select ‘Install/Uninstall’:

In the ‘Upload Package File’ area, browse and select the file you just downloaded “mod_slick_rss-1-5-0.tar.gz”:

Click ‘Upload File & Install”. After a few moments you should receive a ‘Install Module Success’ message.

Next, go to your ‘Extensions’ Menu and Select ‘Module Manager’

    Sort the modules by ‘Disabled’:

and look for the ‘Slick RSS’ module in the list:

You will see in this case the module has defaulted to a position in my ‘left’ position, which is fine in this example.

Open the module by clicking the name. First job is to ‘enable’ the module by clicking here:

At this point you may also wish to change the name from ‘Slick RSS’ to something more appropriate to your site (‘Other Local News’ for example).

Next type in the URL of the site where you want to take RSS feeds here:

Another good idea is to set ‘Add rel=’nofollow’ to links which means the bots won’t go following the links out of your site! and weakening your authority in the engines!!!

Set the other parameters that you want (number of items in list, feed image yes or no, title word count, description word count, etc.) and Save.

Go to the front page of your site, and that’s it, RSS feeds should now be working:
