Is there any place i can look up things into customizing the acm modules?

I need to add some code in it since i cant host the php scripts in there, i tried to modify current ones by placing module files under local/acm but it seems it doesnt read like html or tmpl folders do in local directory. please let me know where and how to add the overwrites or add new styles to the acm module.

    HI there,
Do you mean backend or frontend. For frontend you can apply to custom.css
    Thank you,

yes i know i can apply custom.css, but that is not the point, its not just about adding the css, or changing it i want to add functionality to module.
