Hello,

I would like to be able to have the Top Menu change on the basis of “Group” settings. A visitor to my site will see the Top Menu with basic info, however, upon registration the Top Menu – gets replaced in the same postion and has different Menu Options (of course, keeping the same look and feel).

How feasible is this, and can someone point a good way to try it out?

You could assign the access level for your menu item. Public is for everybody, register is for registered users.
