I’m having trouble installing a truetype font, converted as you suggest in Fontsquirrel and put them in a folder “Dolce” in fonts. (Directory below). I suspect I have a naming or syntax error but I don’t see it.

I added a line in assets.xml

<stylesheets>
<file>fonts/font-awesome/css/font-awesome.min.css</file>
<file>http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Raleway:400,700,600,500,300</file>
<file>http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Marcellus:400></file>
<file>http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lato:300,400,700></file>
<file>/fonts/Dolce/stylesheet.css</file>
</stylesheets>

And in custom css tried

h1,
h2,
h3,
h4,
h5,
h6,
.h1,
.h2,
.h3,
.h4,
.h5,
.h6 {
color: inherit;
font-family: ‘Dolce’, sans;
line-height: 1.1;
} (and also tried ‘dolce_vita-webfont’)

Help very much appreciated

Not 100% sure if this method will solve your issue . . . .
but have you looked into using @FontFace for Alternative Fonts ??
