I had a blank database, unzipped quickstart, ran Installation and sample data. When I go to the front-end of the site, all I see is the word TOSHIBA.

I have tried this 5 times…no luck?? Any ideas??

Make sure all plugins and modules are set to enabled. Can you post a live url to look at?

not sure what you are not doing right. if you wish, i can try installing for you on your server
you need to provide me with
    1) ftp url, username, password
    2) sql id, sql password, database name
    3) JA zeolite for joomla 1.5 or joomla 1.0

pm me these info and i can try for you. if you are not comfortable with giving me the info, its ok.

    cheers

    Wow… I see the problem.

Assuming you did absolutely nothing after the install, I wonder if this is a database issue.

Sorry I don’t have an answer. If I were you, I would go ahead and have jsliao try the install for you.

This is on a windows server and I have dozens of joomla sites on it.

Unzip Joomla 1.5 full download and unzipped file in Quickstart directory. Copied all those files to a fresh empty directory. Created a blank mySQL database. Ran the installation path, entered all the information and had it install the sample data.
    Deleted Installation folder.
Went to homepage and see TOSHIBA. Admin area works fine.

There were other zip files in the full download but I assumed QuickStart directory had everything. Was I wrong? Did NOT install anything from Templates folder or extensions folder (within the main download zip file–these extensions and template were already included in Quickstart directory).

    Ideas??

doesnt look like a database issue since the administrator site is accessible

Since it definately sounds like you know what you are doing and you aren’t new to this, I would go ahead and overwrite any files found in the extension folder and the template folder. The quickstart is supposed to include everything and I have had good luck with the two I have used, but I guess there is always a chance something wasn’t included in the quickstart. I have not had a reason to try this template yet.

Given what I see in the source, nothing is loading. It really seems to me that it just about has to be a database issue. Possibly dumping the sample data from the database might help.

I just really don’t have an answer. Pure if’s and’s and maybe’s on my part. Sorry.

You don’t think the sample data could possibly be having an issue? I am just stumped what would cause this other than a database issue except maybe some missing or corrupt files in the quickstart install.

yea, looks like you have quite some experience with this….

perhaps u could try re-downloading the file? corrupted download? maybe but unlikely but still work a try

shrug, i would think that if it was something to do with the sample data, the headers and such would at least load partially

You would think…. I am leaning toward your idea of a corrupted download. It does happen occassionally. Little blip in the download connection is all it takes.

I have done a quick search and have not come across anyone with this issue. Template has been out long enough if there were problems with the quickstart they would have been identified by now I am sure.

I sent a PM to jsliao for help, but if you cannot, I understand. I’ll work on it again tomorrow. I have a pregnant wife ready to give birth any hour/day now, so I need my sleep. If jsliao does not figure it out, I’ll work on it again later.

    Thanks for the help!!

Hey… Congrats on the new baby! Definately get your sleep now while you can.

Sorry I couldn’t help more with the site.
