Is it possible to be loosing changes in files?
I customize the argo template by editing some .php files and the less files in templates/ja_argo/less
and most of all the custom.css
templates/ja_argo/css/custom.css
Although I notice that some things I have corrected later seem unchanged AGAIN!
Is it I am doing something wrong? I am driving me crazy!

Hi

If you compiled less to css then it is most probable that your files are now resident in /local/css foder

you can work on that folder directly
Take a look at the specific t3 framework documentation HERE on how to isolate customizations

I am on development mode and didn´t do less to css.
So if I compile less to css, am I able then to modify css files?
Is there any case, that compile to css may happen automatically, or due to some other changes to template or clearing cache?

Yes , it creates a local folder where you can add customized files as i showed above, you can also use custom.css file to add your customizations and avoid updates overrides
