I’m just about to download JA Avian II and will be updating a photo gallery site.
I wondered if any experienced users had any tips they’d like to pass on before I get too deeply into the project.
So far I have been working in HTML in Dreamweaver producing sites such as MountainPassions and I’ve had very little experience with Joomla!, only having done one small site using Joomla! as a learning excercise. So any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Joolsy

Can’t say much about Avian II as I don’t use it, however I’ve just constructed my first ‘all Joomla’ site using JA Teline II.

Apart from a few bugs (some down to Joomla 1.5 and most down to the template) I’m satisfied that Joomla site design is the way to go.

I’ve always constructed ‘manually’ before this (Dreamweaver or Freeway) but I think the flexibility that Joomla offers outweighs the bugs.

    Good luck with the site!

Thanks for highlighting the help file. I was referring to it yesterday when I installed Avian II. Luckily I didn’t need too much help at that stage as the guide doesn’t say much about the Quickstart install – it would be helpful if it included just a few hints for the Quickstart installation as well.
If you’ve done a Joomla! install before, then the Quickstart install is straightforward though don’t do what I did and not install the sample data – you need it, and this small but crucial point could be included in the guide.
I’m going to try and get my head around the RSG today – wish me luck!
