    hi there.

    boundary condition:
the webserver is only available in the (internal) VPN-network and there is no possibility to show you a demo from outside via internet. sry.

When i speak about the website i mean the joomla website with the ja teline iv template.

    that is my FIRST configuration:
the template runs on a physical debian 6 machine with apache2 (standard settings and virtual hosts) and 4GB RAM (and in some days in a virtual machine (debian 6 too and 3GB RAM), but this is not considered in this test)

i disconnected the physical webserver from the network and connected my computer and this webserver with a switch.
i wanted to test if the template is too slow or the dns-server. Therefore i started the website in the browser and it took nearly 2-5sec to load all the content. that is satisfying.. :-* 😀 I love it

result: the template is fast enough

    that is my SECOND (problem)-configuration:

all computers (the physical webserver and the dns server (windows server 2008 r2) too) in our network are connected with a 100mbit/1gbit switch. all users log on the dns-server which is als the domain-controller. if user A starts in her/his user profile the browser and he/she want to open the website it takes more than 6-12 sec. to load all the content. it’s a pity :((

all computers have in there settings of the network card the entry of the dns-server.

i changed in the settings of the internet explorer the safety to “local internet”, the “private policy to low” and in the “connections” i added the ip-address (of the webserver) in the proxy-exceptions.

after that i changed the local host-file (%WINDOWS%/%System32%/drivers/etc/hosts) with following syntax:
    ip-address_of_the_webserver name_of_which_the_ip_address_shall_be_replaced
    e.g. 192.168.100.xx intranet.firma.de

the webserver is avaliable via PING-command (ip-address and the dns-resolution too)
in the forward and reverse lookup-zone of the dns-server is also the webserver entry.

what did i wrong? i use standard settings on the apache 2 webserver and also the templates hasn’t been modified.
or must the webserver be integrated into the windows domain?

    Hi dankumc,

Mostly the problem is related to your server setting, unfortunately I don’t have much experience in this area, I hope that some experience members here can provide assistance.
