At the risk of being censored again, I just am curious about Joomlart’s priorities. I looked at the latest files ready for downloads:

    # JM Purity
    # JM Painite
    # JM Painite template
    # JA Teline IV
    # JM Mesolite

Four (4) Magento, One (1) Joomla template. Are there more Magento users now in Joomla?

I looked briefly at the description of Joomla IV (dated 15 Jan 2011), and it states that it is Joomla 1.5.22 QuickStart kit. Was the first release of the JA Teline IV quickstart anything prior to the latest version of Joomla before Joomla 1.5.22(???) which was the latest version before December?

    Or, is this Joomla 1.6????

I understand that Jooomlart released four (4) Joomla 1.6-Joomlart templates the week after Joomla 1.6. Are these the Joomla-Joomlart kits most used by Joomlart members?

Is the template usage of members considered at all?

Edit: The Teline IV is indeed Joomla 1.5

    Hi cornelio,

Let me try to clear your doubts.

I am not sure from where you got your list above. But if you are wondering about magento theme’s version update, then they are all being upgraded for the latest magento platform version 1.4.2.0.

    For the J 1.6 releases >> check here >> http://www.joomlart.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=72

for templates with J 1.6 release, they will have Joomla 1.6 as a sub-category.

So, for JA Teline IV the release as on today is only for Joomla 1.5.xx . However, for your info, based on requests in the forum Hung has included the Teline IV for joomla 1.6 to be released along with 2 other templates this weekend.

<blockquote>Is the template usage of members considered at all?</blockquote>
I am not sure how can one judge this. T3 framework 2 based templates followed by T3 framework 1 based and then the others, that would be the logic behind the upgrade and release.

If you have any further request, you can raise that in the forum and lets see if there are too many request and if Hung finds it correct to push that request above the others, it would be done.

On a personal note, i for once thought of creating poll on the template upgrade for the non-t3 templates, the one getting more votes goes to devs first and so on… but i am not sure if this is the right way to do it…

    Cornelio,

From what I understand there is a different team working on Magento so the fact that they are being updated should not in any way affect the speed at which JA templates are released.

As for a schedule it is only right that all the T3V2 templates be first on the list. V2 was designed with migration in mind so the work should be far less. T3V1 templates require quite a bit more work while pre T3 templates it is almost a complete rebuild. If I was trying to plan the migration of the pre-T3 templates I would look at stats for the last 6months then rebuild the most popular of the last 6 months first.

    Thanks Arvind and Phil,

I have been monitoring the link that you stated Arvind, since I found out that Joomla has released Joomla 1.6.

I am waiting mostly for the Teline II and Teline IV because I am doing major revision of some of my sites.

Phil, as far as usage stats are concerned, I am not sure if that is the whole story. For example, the Board shows that Teline II followed by Teline III had been the most participated template forums. In the case of Teline II, more than likely most of the usual participation has tapered down because those who adopted Teline II have resolved most of the issues. It does not mean they stopped using them.

In the internet for example, I still see newsportal sites based on the original Teline. I decided to skip migrating to Teline III after all the problems associated with it, and stayed with Teline II. I found that Joomlart released Teline IV, but with the imminent release of Joomla 1.6. I did not consider it practical to use the Joomla 1.5.

Most of my sites are in Teline II right now. However, there are quite a few features of Teline IV that I like a lot. More on these features of the Teline IV in a separate post.

I have been monitoring the Extensions lists in the Joomla site and it looks like just like when the Joomla 1.5 was first released, it would take a few months if not longer before the extensions I buy from other third parties would be available.

As a result, I really pared down on dependence with third party extensions, to avoid such impact whenever Joomla makes major transitions or some key script upgrades.

My plan is to stick with Teline II and possibly the Teline IV (if I create new sites). And, even with these two templates, I drastically reduced the type of modules that I use.

    • JA News Frontpage
    • JA News (lots of them, placed everywhere and specific “sections”)
    • NewsFlash
    • Hot Topic
    • — this is very powerful and I consider the best unique module that Joomlart created, unfortunately, until now, the problems I raised were never resolved. I browsed at the modules of Teline IV, and it appears that Joomlart did not include it there??? I need a stand alone module for this to include as extension.

All my videos and photogalleries are made either category-section specific using the NewsFlash and the HotTopic modules. And, I create page specific video and photogallery presentations using a third party extension.

All the above would be dynamic, and can readily replace the “custom” placeholders included in the Joomlart templates.

I am not too familiar with the T3 and the K2, yet. So, those features I would consider when I get a chance to learn them.

    Cornelio
