    Hi there,

    I have never created a module position before. I know TomC has a tutorial on creating them, but I couldn’t find the right files/code to edit in JA Mendozite except for Step 4 of his tutorial.

    I found and followed instructions to activate the content-mass-top position in this thread and would like to know if there are other module positions in JA Mendozite that also could be activated.

    I need a module position over the top-mass-content and left positions. When assigning modules to pages, I noticed that in JA Mendozite there are two module positions listed in the module area called ‘top’ and top-panel’. Is is possible that one of these could be the one I’m looking for? And if so, would I follow the same directions to activate them?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Vineyardseashell

    Hello vineyardseashell,

    JA Mendozite doesn’t have any ‘top’ and top-panel’ position. Your screenshot is about positions of T3 Blank template. Please re-check it.

    You can check the guide for how to find module position in T3 here http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/module-positions-how-and-where-to-find-them/

    Hi Stork11,

    Yes, I know the graphic above is of the of the blank template. I used it as an example to show exactly where I need to add a position in Mendozite.

    On my Mendozite template’s backend there are two module positions listed ‘Top’ & ‘Top-Panel’ that don’t show up on the front end using the /?tp=1 feature. Obviously, they are not activated, nor did I have any luck activating them.

    My questions still stand:

    I need a module position over the top-mass-content and left positions. When assigning modules to pages, I noticed that in JA Mendozite there are two module positions listed in the module area called ‘top’ and top-panel’. Is is possible that one of these could be the one I’m looking for? And if so, would I follow the same directions to activate them?

    Hello vineyardseashell,

    Here is a part of JA Mendozite with position on it

    As you see, “top” is a position group name, it isn’t a position name.

    Regards.

    Hi Stork11,

    Sorry for the delayed reply. For some reason, I no longer get emails on new post links.

    I’m hearing what you’re saying. If you could help me get this new module position working, I’d greatly appreciate it. 🙂

    Following TomC’s tutorial, I have added:

    STEP ONE – Where Do You Want Your New Position? I know where I want to put the module. I want the new position to span the content-mass-top and left positions.

    STEP TWO – Which Layout Block for New Position? I couldn’t figure out where to find the block layout. Under the templatesja_mendoziteblocks there is only header.php and mainnav.php listed. Where do I find the file I need to add the info to?

    STEP THREE- There was no step 3

    STEP FOUR – Adding New Position to templateDetails.xml. Done. To the templates/ja_mendozite/template_details.xml file I added:

    <positions>
    <position>hornav</position>
    <position>breadcrumbs</position>
    <position>search</position>
    <position>banner</position>
    <position>content-top</position>
    <position>content-mass-top</position>
    <position>left</position>
    <position>right</position>
    <position>top</position>
    <position>user1</position>
    <position>user2</position>
    <position>user3</position>

    STEP FIVE – Creating CSS Styling for our New Position. I believe that the new position will take on the css automatically. Or I will need to copy css from another module position?

    Also, to the templatesja_mendoziteetclayoutsdefault.xml I added this info:

    <blocks name=”middle” colwidth=”20″ fixheight=”1″>
    <block name=”content-top” width=”75″>content-top</block>
    <block name=”content-mass-top”>content-mass-top</block>
    <block name=”right1″ width=”25″>left</block>
    <block name=”right2″ width=”25″>right</block>
    </blocks>

    Thanks,

    Vineyardseashell

    Hello vineyardseashell,

    You can add more blocks into “Default” layout in “Layout” tab of Template settings as screenshot below

    As you see, in front-end, a module position is added.
