<blockquote>From September 2008 (or earlier), a new license & domain management system will be introduced. You will not have to add domains to the license system. It will automatically be registered once you install the template.</blockquote>
i have always respected the license agreement with joomlart and also added all the domain where i used the template , also did the verification process
now with this agreement i feel little observed by joomlart what kind of code is it which send back the information to joomlart from our servers when we will install the template in future
also what kind of information will be send, do you really need to get that close to our server even if people like me who respect the policy at joomlart
i personally accept the domain verification process manually but automatically i don’t feel free in my mind…
thanks

November 3, 2008 at 2:01 pm #277911as far as i know there is a verification code added to your templates that you download, its just your membership account number, and that they spider it to make sure it is a legal copy, other than that, i have seen nothing else

well i dont mind that either they can add any code they want or just the account number i just want to know as an devoloper member what code they use and where is it placed
i am not asking that to know where to remove something but how to keep some information which is related to my license, that i could delete mistakenly..
what are the policies about the website we make and about where we use the templates
lets see i paid for developer membership for one year, i make a website for client, once finished i give all the passwords (ftp, hosting account, email accounts etc) to the client and i have no contact with that website, most of the website i made in past with joomla 1.0.x are still in that stage cause the client don’t want to pay for upgrade to joomla 1.5
what if the client hire another webmaster in some days that i am not aware of what if that webmaster use that template somewhere else or modify ?
what about my license in that case ?
what are the policies in that case for my membership ?thanks

November 3, 2008 at 8:54 pm #277953did you give the client the downloaded quickstart or template zip?
they can’t really get it off the site unless you left the zip files on the server, i don’t, i delete themas the template is licensed for that one site, and the cost of that template is hidden in my costs, my client can use it as long as they want, they paid for it, but, if they fire me, they can still use the template as is, if they hire someone else, they have to start from scratch with that new webmaster.
Now if the client has the zip copies and they use it on another site, they are in violation, but I see what you mean, its going to be tracked to me, so I just don’t give it to them.
Most clients are clueless anyways

well this issue must be clear for us as a member of joomlart, i don’t want to get blamed or dismissed from my license because of the other webmaster misused the template
thanks

Did I miss something? In the original thread about this feature (referred to as the “phone-home” feature), I thought JA said that the licensing system would not be implemented after all. -
