August 27, 2011 at 5:50 pm #167880Hiding article titles used to be an easy job with Joomla 1.5. When trying to do the same in Joomla 1.7, using the Edenite template, the title still appears. I changed the article options to SHOW TITLE=HIDE. Is there something else to be done?

Now there are two titles. I only want the lower one.

August 27, 2011 at 6:12 pm #408967Hi jneubauer,
What you see are 7 articles on a category blog page. I want to hide the title only of the first article so I changed the article options to SHOW TITLE=HIDE. Turn off the MENU TITLE? Are you sure?

August 28, 2011 at 3:55 am #409062Hi
I’ve just checked your site. On your site url these items have title . It’s item title.
You can easy to turn off it by go to Menu – <your menu> – <Usar um software americano?>
And right side with Article options -> Show title = Hide.
Please let’s me know if you still have trouble with this.
Thank you

August 28, 2011 at 1:46 pm #409142Hi jooservices,
when using the MENU option, as you suggested, ALL articles appear without title. The problem is that I want to hide only the title of the FIRST article. The most logical solution would be to use directly the ARTICLE OPTION as I did (see my first post). But it does not work!

September 18, 2011 at 6:45 pm #413464Hi jooservices,
when publishing fresh articles I noticed that ALL FIRST articles are being displayed now WITHOUT title. What I expected was that the template was working according to Joomla configuration. Thats means thas template users have the ‘right’ to configure only one SINGLE ARTICLE to be displayed without title, not the whole category or ALL ARTICLES. Should be possible, shouldn’t it?
Example:

What everybody expects when using a template is that it accepts ALL Joomla configuration parameters. In my case this did NOT happen. Configuring Joomla to hide a specific article title (of the first article on one page only) did not have any effect. So there was made a ‘workaround’. The problem now is that ALL first articles on ALL pages are displayed without title. After many tests I found out that this only happens when the BLOG LAYOUT OPTIONS are not filled out. I can live with this situation but I would prefer to have a 100% working template.

September 24, 2011 at 6:27 pm #414717I think this is more a mis-understanding of how Joomla! works, rather than a shortfall of Joomlart templates.
In Joomla!, the template ONLY affects the styling of the content displayed, it does not affect the actual data that is displayed.
So, if this were a problem where, for example, the article title was an odd font, or the readmore button was displayed upside-down, then we might look at the template.
But, that’s not what this is. Here we’re asking Joomla! to do something it was not built to do.
That doesn’t mean that it can’t be done, as you can see, joo is working hard to accomplish this for you.
Hopefully this clarifies things a bit. Your template is working just fine. And Joomla! is, in fact, working just fine. We’re just asking it to do something it was not meant to do. -
