I am struggling with this template but slowly coming to grips with it.
However, I am still mystified by how to display a side bar in the article view. The article always occupied the full width of the page.

Hi @pugwash94,

Did you modify the template ? Could you please also provide a temporary FTP account via private message so I can take a closer look at the code ?

Your articles in News category seem to be using Magazine Home template. Install the breadcrumbs module to help see why News articles are apparently not under News menu/category.
