It is displayed in home page since, currently, that article is not assigned to any menu item. Please try to assign that article (or category which that article belongs to) to a menu item (create a new menu item or use existing one). Also make sure that you don’t assign modules to this menu item. By this way, when you click readmore, it will direct to details page of that article.
Clean cache and refresh your site and let me know if this helps.
