I have finally installed the Travel template to my new install of Joomla 1.6. The sample pages of the orignal install inclued different templates assigned to a sample fruit market and a sample parks page. Those assigned templates have been overridden by the Travel template. Even though in the template manager they still show assigned to these different menu items.
Does this mean I will not have the ability to have different templates for different areas of the website?
Not too happy with this problem as I need this ability to work.

June 29, 2011 at 8:01 am #399039Hi,
You login backend > Template Manager > JA_Travel > Page Assignments. Click To Add Pages and next add color.June 29, 2011 at 8:05 am #399040I think you may have misunderstood me. I want templates other than Travel on some pages of the website but this function does not work anymore since I uploaded the Travel template.

June 29, 2011 at 8:53 am #399051Are you talking about having a completely different template (ie Travel on one page and Rave on another) or are we talking different variations of the same template.
June 29, 2011 at 9:19 am #399061Completely different templates. I uploaded a brand new fresh install of Joomla 1.6.4. Included with this install are some “Beez” templates. The fresh install… straight out of the box from joomla.org includes 2 sample sites, Austrailian Parks and Fruit Shop. There are 3 different templates. The default, the template for the Parks, and the template for the Shop. This was done through the template manager by assigning different templates to different menu items as it has been for quite a long time.
After I installed the T3 framework and the Travel template, even though I had made absolutely no changes to anything other than assigning Travel as the default template, the other templates no longer show up for the Parks and Shop samples. The templates are still assigned to those pages but Travel is overriding everything.
I set the default template back to what it was originally but then that template was overriding the assigned pages. Finally I disabled the T3 plugin and all works fine as it did “out of the box.” This tells me I can’t use the feature to assign different templates to different menu items as long as the T3 framework is enabled. This is quite annoying as it seems that though Joomla has come out with yet another fabulous upgrade, too many of the core Joomla features are overridden by this T3 framework.
I just bought my membership today and I have to say that wasting an entire day messing around with this I have decided it’s just not worth the problems and will just use Joomla as it is rather than messing with all of these crazy add-ons.
Thanks for answering… sorry if I seem crabby… been a VERY long and unproductive day. I had fully expected that a “paid for” template would be ready to go but alas, it seems that is not the case. VERY disappointed with the product. :((

June 29, 2011 at 9:23 am #399063I shall escallate this problem to the devs. It doesn’t appear to be something that has come up berfore. It may be a configuration problem or it may mean they need to adjust some code.
June 29, 2011 at 9:48 am #399072Thank you for trying. The folks here seem quite helpful… wish the product itself were as fabulous as the people who have tried to help.

July 11, 2011 at 7:37 am #400495Hi ussarizona
When you assign menu for profiles in Page assignments, this menu will also be assigned for template.
Example: You have 3 menu’s
Home | Template 1 | Template 2
You want to use JA Bistro when clicking Template 1, and use JA Travel when clicking Template 2
First, you go to JA Bistro (in template manager), assign Template 1 to default profile. Save it
Second, you to go JA Traval, assign Template 2 to default profile. Save it.Refresh and surf your page.
