    Hi All,
The rebuild of our community website is progressing OK but the user experience for authors is a disaster. Authors create a new article from the front end then save without writing content or setting categories. They are then unable to get back to their article to do more work on it. Maybe I am missing a trick here, but when an author logs in I would like to be able to present them with a list of their unpublished articles, with links.

Perhaps there is a simpler, better solution to this problem, but we are definitely in need of help with this.
    Regards,

What isn’t available on Joomla core yet is to let authors edit their own unpublished work after it gets saved. Current setup is that once the author saves the article, only the editor and publisher can touch the article.

For clients who have no basics in setting up a process for digital publishing, I advice their authors to give out a (absolute & final) document submitted to the editor/publisher/admin OR online irreversible submission via frontend. For your “revolting” authors, delegate them as editors. Give the author position to volunteer contributors instead. I presume you can customize System > Global Configuration > Permission Settings.

TL/DR; It’s a Joomla issue since way back. I think there’s a component/cck to bypass the default secure digital publishing process for Joomla, but don’t even try it. It will only slow down your site and may give compatibility problems later on.
