November 3, 2011 at 11:11 am #423051Hi,
You mean about the files on your default server or on Amazon server ?
As for the files on your default server actually there is not such an option because there is always the option to disable S3 so that would lead to a website with no images or files. Please let me know if this is what you asked for.
Regards
November 3, 2011 at 11:22 am #423053Thanks for your response. Yes I meant on default server… I was planning to use s3 so to reduce storage requirements… So why should I use s3 if all files stay on default server anyways?!

November 3, 2011 at 11:40 am #423056Hi,
As you can also read on S3 component main help screen through your website components manager S3 actually enables the cloud computing using Amazon Cloud Servers, that way people can access your web files faster (most of the time) and you can reduce the amount of bandwidth used on your default server. Also JA S3 component handles the synchronization of your site with Amazon Cloud Server and that makes the all process very easy or to be more precise once you set this up and running there is no need from admins side to do anything else to keep the files up to date with Amazon Servers.

November 3, 2011 at 12:41 pm #423060Hi, thanks for your answer. I think cloud server is different then Content delivery network, right? Meaning I still have to configure cdn if I want files to be served from closest location through s3? Thanks a lot

December 5, 2011 at 5:40 pm #428064Hello,
I just signed up for this component hoping to use s3 as an archive rather than delivery network. On the Joomla extensions directory you stated
#2. Delete or not delete original files.
I will review this option to make it available (hopefully with 2.0.0 release) as an option in S3However I cannot find this option and this comment was from a year ago and we are on version 2.0.2.
I was quite frustrated because there is no mechanism to see the functionality before signing up to the package.
Also it seems you cannot sync to subfolders within the bucket. Is that the case?
Regards
