    Need some Joomla! expertise on this issue …

    Our client would like to update their current site to a Joomla site, however they want it to fill the entire browser (be auto sizable), they really liked another website of ours that we had custom done (http://bmwccottawa.org/) so I cloned the site onto our dev server – my question is … how easy would it be to make this site auto-resize ?

    Would I have to remove some of the functionality ? (slide show/since high res graphics would be needed correct?)

    OR Is there a Joomlart template that is already auto-resized that I could use … Or is Joomla not a CMS that does auto-resizing?

    Anything would help!

    What are the PROs and CONs of auto-resizing?

    Thank you !

    Hi there,

    In order for a web-page of a Joomla-based web-site to fill in the whole browser width, the site’s template has to be responsive. “Responsiveness”, as the common sense suggests, is the ability to respond to a user browser width, be it a browser installed on a desktop PC or on a handheld device.

    If you use any of our templates that are responsive, you’ll be all set as to auto-resizing your web-pages to browser widths.

    Hope this helps

    Regards

    Alex

    @sebbs;

    In other words, it’s all about the template; If the template is responsive the site will be responsive. just notice that different templates have different positions and stuff. You will have to re-assign some of the things you have to some new positions. What will be responsive the pages, modules and joomla articles. But if you have other 3rd party extenions like a gallery, the template won’t make it responsive. Usually templates come out with their own gallery type and e.t.c.

    You could use any of our responsive template to make (http://bmwccottawa.org) responsive. Most of the job would be done just by choosing the new template of JA as default; You also can set up how the content will look like in a tablet, in a mobile, in a wide screen, in a small screen… e.t.c.

    i have only PRO about responsive sites, i have no CONs ) As any auto-re-sizing can be done as one wishes it to be done; And nowadays people are getting more and more into their phones and tablets

    Here’s my question – should I choose a JA template and start fresh or can I manipulate the one I cloned from http://bmwccottawa.org/ to here: http://bmwqc.dev.dnsnetworks.ca/

    If I can manipulate the current one I would definitely need help with that … I wouldn’t even know where to start.

    If I can’t and need to start a new site – would you happen to know of a template that I could use that would look similar? and how do I make it responsive?

    Sebbs,

    Or you can use the Purity 3 template (http://www.joomlart.com/demo/#purity_iii) It is responsive from itself and it has a layout in it of left – content – right, as in the website you pointed at.

    Just a suggestion.

    Best regards,

    Peter

    @sebbs;

    Ja Elastica is build in a completely different way then your initial site. You would need many things to do and re-asign, with out any heavy coding or customization though. Elastica is Built upon JA’s robust JAT3 2 Framework – you cean see it’s documentation and quick guides in THIS LINK;

    If you will encounter difficulties, just let me know and i’ll help you out;
