I would like to replace the white background of (entire) website to a light image. I tried to change it, but nothing happens. Can you please give me a hint?

For your background color/image, try this . . . .

Within file path —> /templates/purity_iii/local/css/themes/moja/off-canvas.css
at line 13, modify the "background" property with the color code or image file path you wish:

    background: #ffffff none repeat scroll 0 0;
    left: 0;
    overflow: visible;
    position: relative;
