would it be complex to change the background so that its a two tone colour, ie main body remains dark and the left and right side a lighter colour, im assuming the index.php would have to be edited aswell as the template css file
any help would be appreciated

You can do it. You would need to edit css files and maybe change some background images. Sounds like work to me… 🙂

on some template’s its quite doable, but on this one yes it is possible but its quite a lot of work.
