You just need to modify your html page, to add something like:

<div>
<jdoc:include type="module" name="bannermodulename" />
</div>

Create a new module using the name you use there, and then insert your banner through the editor below the module editor.

Apply a class or id to the div should you want to apply certain styles to it.
