I’m trying to replace User 1 and User 2 positions with two Banner ads. Every time I publish the 2 modules (Banners & Banners Second) I get this error:
500 – Duplicate entry ‘2011-05-27-1-7’ for key ‘PRIMARY’ SQL=INSERT INTO smd_banner_tracks SET `count` = 1 , track_type=1 , banner_id=7 , track_date=’2011-05-27 18′
It seems that the tracking is causing this error to come up because when I Delete the Tracks the webpage comes back up again. Can anyone help me to get these two banner positions to work properly? And also to track impressions and clicks properly?

I published two your banner at user1, user2 and it works normally without modification. You check it again.
May 28, 2011 at 1:31 pm #393368Yes, it looks like it’s working but when you navigate to another page or click on a banner link then try to navigate to another page – instead of showing a website page it shows the attached error. This happens with or without the tracking on. So it must be the banners. Do you think my banner modules are corrupt? Or maybe my database?

Have you tried deleting the entry causing the problem and creating it again? I t may be happening due to record not being saved fully for some reason..
Please let me know when you try this or if you want me to take a look and change the things to resolve the issue.
May 30, 2011 at 10:39 pm #393717I tried khoand’s advice but it didn’t fix the problem. Then I trashed Banners 5, 6, 7, & 8. I created 4 new banners and I’m still getting the attached Error. The only thing that has changed is the ID number referenced in the error message and now the banner links give the Error 500 too.
Every time I use the “Start Publishing” and “Finish Publishing” calendars I get a yellow exclamation mark PENDING in the Status column & it automatically changes my date to start tomorrow instead of today. Also the banners are not rotating.
All I’m trying to accomplish is to have “rotating banners” in positions User1 and User2 with the tracking working. Can you please help me?
Yes, you can change anything to resolve this issue. These banners are only samples to try and get this feature working correctly. NOTE – I used the Banners module that was already in Joomla and copied it to make Banner2. Perhaps that is the problem???

May 30, 2011 at 10:47 pm #393719Please do as Himangi suggests. Just to be clear, she is suggesting removing the entry from the database. Use a tool such as PHPMyadmin to do so but make sure you have a backup first, then make a second backup just to be 100% sure. I often take 1 backup with phpmyadmin and a second usink akeeba backup.
If you cannot work it out please update your ticket with your phpmyadmin logon and I am sure one of the team can help you quickly.
May 31, 2011 at 12:04 am #393722I downloaded all the files to my local computer & had the server make a backup. Not sure how to make a backup with phpmyadmin & my Joomla files are all unwriteable (except images) so I don’t think I can upload akeeba backup. I wish I could use that program it looks very good.
Can you please remove the entries from the database. I do not know how to do that either :(( My username is: ****edited for security ****

June 1, 2011 at 2:34 pm #394141Ok, I did that yesterday. I had to completely turn off the banners in positions User1 and User2. The “Error 500” page is showing up on all the website pages anytime the banners are on. Just click around a few times – you’ll see what I mean.

Yes I checked this error but havent found any reason why this may happening, especially after you have now replaced all your banner component and module files with original files from joomla..
I will get someone else to look into it. Thanks you for your patience!

I checked the issue again by changing template to Beez2 – Parks Site and the problem still occurs. Since this is not related to JA template, it is out of JA support scope. Can you please post this issue on forum.joomla.org ?
Kindly let me know if you need any help with Ja template, else I will close the ticket for this banner issue.
June 4, 2011 at 1:10 am #394604I have never used Joomla before and only purchased the Developer membership so I could get support. Now you say I have to go to Joomla.org and ask for free support? Wish I would have known that before I paid Joomlart $500.00 for support.
Can you at least tell me what files I need to upload to replace the correct components and modules. And do I just upload them with Filezilla and overwrite the originals on the website. Or am I supposed to do something through the Extension panel? I can’t believe I have been asking for help with this problem since May 27th and eight days later I’m told to go look for help somewhere else. Very disappointing.:((

I tried to find a solution for you but could find only this thread related to your issue http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p=2374714
I tried deleting entries from banner_tracks table and if there is no entry related to the banner you click from frontend then the site does not show 500 error. But once an entry is created for a particular banner, and next time you click on that banner, 500 error is displayed.. I have checked this on my local server as well as yours and the problem occurred in both.
I am sorry, I can not help any further and you will need to find the solution on forum.joomla.org since it is a Joomla error.
Kindly note that the Developer membership at Joomlart allows you to download the templates and extensions for joomla, developed by Joomlart and JA provides prime support for the templates and extensions developed and maintained by JA, till your membership is active. Support for any other extensions, templates or core joomla is not included in this membership, hence this banner issue is out of JA support scope.
