Hello,
I’ve been looking for a basic guide to the JA_Community template. Right now, I want to set up and test the “subscribe” button. What I am wanting is an explanation of how this feature is intended to be used and what the steps are to provide any specific information I have to provide and how I test it’s function. For example, I would like to subscribe myself and know how and where to look for the result. I’d also like the explanation to include what content needs to be produced and published and through what steps in order for a subscriber to receive whatever it is he is subscribing to.
I think there are a ton of great features on this template, but I am completely lost trying to do anything with them without some kind of explanatory guide. Can anyone help?
Thank you if you can!
Hank

February 24, 2012 at 4:04 am #439774Hi Hank
The template guide at http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/userguide-ja-community-plus-for-joomla-2-5/ will only explain how to setup the template on your site to make the template look like in demo. You need to use appropriate extensions for the functionality you want, for example use of some newsletter extension which will provide a module for subscription and you can use the styling available for subscription module by making changes in the css …
I hope I am clear enough, but if you still need any specific help, please let me know.

I’ve been scouring the past strings on the forum for insight and saw much the same direction you give. Thank you. Next opportunity, I will experiment doing as you suggest. My suspicion is that I will have follow up questions about how to connect the front end to the back end, and the subscribe form to the outgoing communication process, but that will have to wait until I’m working with something specific.
Thank you,
Hank

February 24, 2012 at 6:56 am #439804Hi,
As I said hank, if you use a newsletter extension, all you really need to do is install it, publish any plugins / modules that come with it and start using it.. 🙂 I have used AcyMailing and would suggest you to give it a try.. It’s very simple.. Then if you need help with styling changes, let me know .
