October 18, 2012 at 7:32 pm #181527Hi JA Team,
Well, it seems that I’ve been here almost a year (!) and with a month to go until the end of my JATC membership, I thought it might be an opportune time to ask some questions.
Firstly, I have to say thank you for the support over my time here: even though one of my very first threads is still unanswered by anyone!! 🙂 This applies not just to JA staff but also the forum support guys and mods. Which brings me to my first question.
What has happened to all the mods and support guys? I don’t care about any politics amongst you, I just notice and will notice a degradation of service and an increase in waiting time for support. For me, still a relative newbie in Joomla, with Joomla 3, Bootstrap and JAT3 v3 coming, it doesn’t inspire confidence. (I know I don’t have to go to 3, but how else does one learn and prepare for 3.5?)
I really don’t mind if this forum is a support forum (by support staff only) or a community help board – and you can see I have actively contributed – but it would be good to know one way or the other. Plus all the spam on here is getting to be a real pain in the bum.
Okay. Quality. For all of us and our customers it’s paramount. I bought Wall and still haven’t used it on a site and for example this month’s template release is still offered as a beta and that doesn’t inspire. Are all templates in the future to be released as betas? And can you please check code etc in them as there are references to other templates within the code often – Elastica z.B.!
Templates. Generally a matter of personal taste with regards to the design etc but for me Lens was the last great template and only 3 good templates this year. University looks very much like Mendozite and TWO virtuemart templates in 3 months? (I’d love another joomshopping template – the reason I came here in the first place). Tiris was a masterpiece and Orisite (when I installed and styled JoomShopping) was a classic. Will these styles, where some real thought has gone into the design, return or are we facing a year of minimalism or (to my tastes) boring?
I appreciate that the work piles up. I know Joomla is in a new version so you have lots to do but that’s one of the joys of running a business. If you want to grow you offer great products – well tested and working and then you offer great support. If you need more people, you do the business case and employ them. Maybe time to offer other memberships – 6 months for $50 (with 3 domains not $59 for 3 months and 1 domain), Developer at a sensible price ($499 is way, way too high in my opinion – rockettheme is $300, yootheme €249, gavick $199), buy a single template ala Wall, etc.. Your commercial decisions I know.
If T3v3 is going to impress compared to Warp 6, and if the future looks exciting and bright then I’ll look at signing up again. 🙂 I know I’m just one of 298’000 (7’000 active) members but if I’m going to be a mushroom*, then no thanks. I’ll make the jump now to another provider, yootheme probably, and re-learn it all in a single hit rather than piecemeal.
Thank you for reading, thank you for taking this in the right spirit and I look forward to your feedback.
Merci vielmol
Gruss

It has been a hard, possibly the worst time here at JoomlArt. I won’t go into details or try to come up with any kind of excuse of explanation.
I am personally going to fix it for you! I promise.

January 7, 2013 at 10:33 am #478701Swissa,
I’ve been a member of JA for quite a while and have even worked for them for a short while in my spare time. I’ve stuck around because of their quality and Hung’s honesty. The other thing that has made me stick around is the great community they have built up here. Members like your good self have made it worthwhile for me. I have learnt so much in my time here and hopefully from my point of view that will continue. I for one value you contributions this past year and hope to see your continued input.
As for templates it will always be hard to keep everyone happy all of the time. I personally am never going to use the onepage designs, it is just not something I personally can get excited about but just looking at the number of sites out there that are using JA’s previous one page designs show that they are indeed popular. As you yourself say, there have been a number of great templates from JA and in the past year there have been 3 that really have stood out from the crowd IMHO. I’m more than happy with that.

Swissa,
JoomlArt is more than a company to me and many other members here. There are people who renew to be an active member not because they are going to download any product or get the most out of the money they spend.
I read your feedback again and again. On one hand, I am disappointed that we had not been able to deliver a service quality level that I expect. On the other hand, I am happy because we still have people like you and Phill who are around, give excellent; constructive feedback so that I and my team have a chance to fix what have gone wrong.
Swissa, is there anything I can do this as a thank you to you? Perhaps you may not need a Developer Membership, I hope you will accept this as a complimentary upgrade from me.

Phill,
I don’t agree with this 🙂
I did create “a community” but it’s you, John, Arvind, Manos, Punto and many other names who have helped to make it into a “great community “3 users say Thank You to Hung Dinh for this useful post

At the moment my time is spent either traveling 300km a day to get to and from work or motivating developers, marketeers, finance team etc to deliver on my promises to the investors, so I see my visits here being infrequent for the foreseeable future. I would appreciate if you or any of a select few contributing members fancied beta testing in a couple of months. Be interesting to see if I really did learn anything here!! :p

I fully understand your point about it being more than a company to you. For me, although it hasn’t been my baby as it is yours, it has been my baptism of fire into the world of the web design and without that experience I wouldn’t have been offered my current position. So there is a debt of gratitude there from my side. I hope that, in some small way, my presence here has been of worth to you, Joomlart and a few of the members.
I am genuinely flattered by your comments Hung and would graciously and readily accept an upgrade to my (lapsed) membership. I hope that despite my current work-load I will be able to do it and Joomlart the justice it deserves. :-[
I thank you for your time to personally communicate with me.
Warm Regards
swissa
