June 25, 2008 at 7:25 am #256021I’m using GTranslate on my website (http://site.voiceofbolton.com)
There’s a few versions available – Free, commercial and an pro (however the pro version is not out yet).
I’m using the commercial version on my site but will be implementing the pro version. The flags on my site are restricted down to only a few of what you can really add to the site.
The free version does not have the flags, where as the commercial does. The commercial version i think might be around $16 (£8) although I’m not quite sure on the cost.
GTranslate is a component that has been done by a developer called Edvard Ananyan (i think that’s how you spell his surname).
His URL is edo.webmaster.am.
If you do end up getting the commercial version (with flags) than please do mention my username to him – I don’t really get anything from him for the promotion but I’m a good friend of his.
Thanks
Anis

June 25, 2008 at 7:36 am #256025To be honest I’ve been researching this for weeks!
Most of the ‘auto’ translators are pretty rough with some very bizarre results in the other languages. I tried four or five and gave up.
In the end I installed Joom!Fish and have paid to have my text professionally translated into Russian (fortunately, I can do the French myself!).
At least I have the piece of mind that the content and menus are 100% correct for my non-English speaking visitors!
However, I will check out edo.webmaster.am as I would really like to include Greek, Spanish and German, but can’t afford to have all my text professionally translated for those languages!!

</blockquote>I checked out the site. Unfortunately, he appears to be using the free ‘Google translator’ technology which I investigated. Not good results at all, so I’ll stick with ‘manual’ translation for the moment to ensure everything is correct!

I hope you find the tool that does it all for you. 😉
