September 5, 2009 at 4:44 pm #316484In the template tools where you choose color variations, only the default is available. Don’t really want the black on home page. Thanks.
Added by Scotty: At the moment default (Black) is the only color variation. As it is a newspaper style this will most likely be the only variation in the final release. You can edit the colours yourself via the CSS.

September 6, 2009 at 11:31 am #316531I was wondering if all language texts for the template and modules could use some language files for it. My website will be in Dutch and i will have to change all files related to the modules and plugins such as the plg_jacomment and all language related texts in the template.
That would make my day. It’s not really a bug, but it bugs me 🙂

September 6, 2009 at 5:23 pm #316565In Teline II, it is possible to clone the JA News, rename it and then place the JA News clone anywhere.
In Teline III, it is also possible to clone the JA News2 module, and rename it. However, there are problems. As scripted, the current version of JA News2 is not able to function like the clones of the JA News in Teline II. Call it what you want, scripting deficiency, error or bug, they have to be resolved. Otherwise, the JA News2 will have very limited use. I tested this twice already using the “download” I made the other day of Teline II beta. Here’s a summary of what I did:
TEST 1
- JA News2 (position: content-bot) => clone => JA News2 copy (position: content-bot)
- JA News2 copy (position: content-bot) => rename => News Features (position: content-bot) => revise module to 1 column.
- Go to Front End => The Homepage took forever to load. I had to force quit
Observations:
- For some reason, while only one of the JA News2 module was transferred, both the original JA News2 (position: content-bot) and the clone News Features (new position left) were found in the left column. NOT GOOD. This does not happen in Teline II.
- While I made it one (1) column, the categories in each section remained three columns. NOT GOOD. This does not happen in Teline II.
I surmised that the “freezing” was due to the two JA News modules, so I simplified both JA News2 modules.
TEST 2
- Very important note. The “News Features” (position: left) had to be unpublished to avoid freezing and had to be placed back to Position: content-bot. Why, because the backend Edit in the JA News2 module similar to
- Simplify both JA News2 ( position: content-bot) and “News Features” (position: content-bot). to contain only two sections
- In the Front End “News Features” (position: content-bot) use the feature of JA News2 to have only one category for each section.
- In the BackEnd: Move “News Features” (position: content-bot) to left position.
http://www.joomlart.com/images/stories/ja_teline_iii/preview/ja_news2_feature.png
found only in the FrontEnd. to specify the number of categories to appear in each Section. Moreover, even the above FrontEnd edit feature does not allow specification of the column arrangement of the categories in each Section. The existing JA News2 module only allows specification of the column arrangement of the Sections (in the BackEnd).
Observations:
- The site loaded relative faster (FrontEnd).
- Unfortunately, even if the original JA News2 ( position: content-bot) was not moved via edit in the BackEnd. In the FrontEnd, both the original JA News2 ( expected position: content-bot) and News Features (new position left) were found in the Left Collumn.
- Moreover, the JA News2 ( expected position: content-bot) not only was in the Left Column, its three categores were simply squeezed together like thin logs in the same row in the Left Column.
Notes:
- The problem is likely due to scripting error (deficiency) not anticipating the impact of moving JA News2 that not only shows the Section but also the Category.
- The presence of some features of the JA News in the FrontEnd, but not availabe in the BackEnd required Admin edits in the FrontEnd, to simulate creation of a Section with one public Category to fit in the left column. This should be resolved by including a similar feature in the BackEnd.
These problems are not encountered in Teline II JA News module clones.
Applications- The possible application of the experiment done here is to create a dynamic module as potential replacement of the static modules in Teline III. Unfortunately, the inability to allow one column alignment of the categories (apart from flexible alignment of the Section) would not allow simple creation of dynamic Highlight modules that will be useful for Section pagelayout, as envisioned in the Teline III beta.
- The JA News2 clone layout specifications is not most suitable for placement in the left column, or more likely any poisition in the main “right column”. To solve this, perhaps Joomlart can borrow a strategy used by GavickPro in their News Template released in Feb 2008. Instead of a single News module, they had at least four different News Modules that will allow more flexible layout and CSS specifications so that each may be best suited for specific positions, or to highlight specific articles in specific categories (and Sections).

September 6, 2009 at 5:51 pm #316567Cornelio if I understand correct (and I’m not sure I do) you are trying to run more than 1 instance of JAN2 on your front page?
If so, this is bound to cause problems as you will have certain scripts in each that will have the same functions (ie. javascript and php functions as opposed to functionality). By loading two on the same page you probably caused some kind of un-ending loop and this is why the page never loaded.
You may have been able to do this with JAN1 but JAN2 is a far more complex component.
I apologise if I misunderstood your post.

September 6, 2009 at 10:20 pm #316586Cornelio in T3 there is the ability for the user to close sections, re-order sections, select which categories to display in each section…..
Don’t you think that by adding other JAN’s on the front page that you will make these features redundant?

September 7, 2009 at 1:00 pm #316680Is it going to be possible to totally remove the breadcrumbs area from the home page? This is kind of an eyesore. Would really appreciate it if you could have it removable on the home page only. Thanks.

September 7, 2009 at 2:34 pm #316694In JA News2, I placed these information (just like what I would do in Teline II)
13:deepblue => World
6:red => Artist
14:deepblue =>Technology
8:red => Travel
11:deepblue => Health
5:red => Sport
9:deepblue => Life and Style
12:red => Entertainment
Note: The arrows and the Section names were not included in the actual entry in the JA News2
When I view the Front End however, I did not get the order shown above. Instead, I got an order based on the Section ID
5:red => Sport
6:red => Artist
8:red => Travel
9:deepblue => Life and Style
11:deepblue => Health
12:red => Entertainment
13:deepblue => World
14:deepblue =>Technology
When I have that many sections, the site also became more slow. I already “unpublished” many of the tabmodules, ads, etc. for the Front Page.

September 7, 2009 at 3:09 pm #316698Here’s what I’m getting:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/content/n/a/t/nataliemedia/html/faith/plugins/system/plg_jausersetting.php on line 192URL: http://thechristianbanner.com
My host is GoDaddy.com. Followed manual install of Quickstart (beta JA Teline III) completely.
I’d like to get started on this site if anyone has any ideas.

September 8, 2009 at 3:48 pm #316824Hi,
A few errors for you. The “Contacts” category table list needs to be extended to span the full width of the page it is currently very bunched and looks unprofessional.On all pages: The “Joomla! is Free Software released under the GNU/GPL License.” needs to be removed, it doesn’t usually appear on Joomla templates. Currently there are two copyright notices. The first can be amended using the PDF supplied by Joomlart but the other should be taken out from the go.
Again on the contact page but this time the single contact layout, the form is not displayed properly and again looks unprofessional and needs to be addressed.
UPDATE: the rows need spacing out more and the field elements need to be moved right and on a vertical line:
It needs to be more like this: TEXT……..FIELD
Currently it looks like this: TEXT.FIELD-

September 9, 2009 at 3:47 pm #316944Still playing around with the Beta, i was wondering if it could be made possible that the JA News could be a little bit modified. I want to use it on multiple pages, but only with the news of that section. So that i can select which section it can use.

September 9, 2009 at 8:43 pm #316957There is also a little CSS problem with the .leading class when you don’t have an page title for your section, its 15px too low so it doesn’t fit in nice.
