    I have three questions:

#1. I currently have all of my articles running through sections and categories. I am trying to get a section to display in where the main body is on the front page. I had to use a module from my old site in order to display the articles in the user6 position. How do I get the body to grab from this section the correct way? (I hate the way it is currently displaying)

#2. I had to edit the css to get the 1 column and body look. Is this what I was supposed to do or is there some configuration to make this happen. Also, according to the demo template, it looks like the 1 column is the left column… but I need it to be the right column. How do I go about doing this?

#3. How is ja_catslwi grabbing the data? Is it grabbing the most recent? I am seeing three articles and one of them will display the image if I say “auto-resize: no” but if I say yes it doesnt display the third image. Any ideas why?

My site is http://www.utahluxury.com if you need to see what I am talking about.

    Thanks a million in advance!
    Dan

Would love to help…but you will need to turn off the CSS compression plugin.
With it on…the site runs faster, but debugging is a bi*ch! 🙂

    Thanks and
    Great looking site, BTW

Ok, I turned off the plugin and have flushed the cache. The site should be running now with the css set as normal. Let me know if you have any problems.

Thanks again for your help and your kind remarks!

    Hi Dan,

    We’ll do these separately.

I’m not sure I’m understanding. Are you saying the articles are not appearing on the front page no matter what Section or Category they are in? Or perhaps you are trying to show articles with creation dates that predate the content that is showing up? If that’s the case, simply change the creation dates of the articles to a more modern date than those that are showing and they should then begin appearing.

If I’ve misunderstood your question please let me know.

    Thanks,
    John.

If what you did works for you…then what you did is correct.
Another way of doing it would be to go to the administrative area:

MENUS > MAIN MENU > HOME and in the parameters you can set how you want the articles to appear on the HOME page. Once set there, then you can/could have used CSS to tweek further.

Ok here is the problem. The body is not showing up regardless of section or category. I had to use the jxtc_newspro module (from a different provider) to get the content to show up in the user6 position.

If I am not mistaken, the body content should automatically show up without the need of setting anything up… correct? (please forgive as I am a noob) Right now I am using an extra module that I dont think looks at all like the body in the example and I like the jasulfur body position better than what I am doing.

This is what I thought I should have done, but when I did that I noticed that the article didnt fill in all the way. Instead I was getting a 350 pixel wide article. So I adjusted the css to allow for a 600 pixel wide article.

    Thanks again!

    Dan,

The reason the image is not showing is because something apparently went nuts when the thumbnail for your main image was created.

Short answer: your page is looking for the following resized image…which doesn’t exist…and thus isn’t showing. …images/resized/images/stories/slpoh2007/sagehomes/sage-godfather/thumbs/thumbs_sg-front-of-house_338_225.jpg

Long answer: When you add an image to an article, Joomla creates a resized version of that image for display elsewhere. It keeps all of these automatically created files in a placed called “resized/images” It’s sort of a parallel universe…but one where its best to leave it alone…or be very careful in messing with the images there.

    Two ways to fix it:

MANUALLY: You need to cut an image to 338 width x 225 height and name it EXACTLY “thumbs_sg-front-of-house_338_225.jpg” and place it EXACTLY “…images/resized/images/stories/slpoh2007/sagehomes/sage-godfather/thumbs/” and you’ll be back in business.

AUTOMATICALLY: Delete the article and the image. Then create a new article with the image (name is something slightly different…so it’s not the same as the previous) and it should work from here on out. What we’re trying to do here is make Joomla think there is a brand new article and image here…so it will forget the old and show the new.

    Good Luck, have fun…great site.
    John.

    jbrett,

Thanks for your help. I manually changed the image on the ja_catslwi module. I figured out the Body problem too. I had tried previously to see if clicking on “Front Page” if that would show the articles. Previously it did not. The reason it didn’t was because I hadn’t cleared the cache. After clearing the cache the content appeared. I still dont get the 1 or 2 column + Body stuff but I dont think that is going to be much of a problem. For the most part I am sooo excited that the site is running smoothly again and that things look as well as they do.

    Much appreciated help!
    Thanks,
    Dan
