I want to remove the box or plate (whatever it is called) behind the footer logo. How can I do that?

Open /css/custom.css file and add below code

.t3-footer .logo {
    background: transparent!important;}
.t3-footer .logo:before {display:none;}

it is on Extensions>Templates>Ja Teline V Default>ThemeMagic>Footer Styles. You can change the color there

If there is no custom.css file in css folder kindly create it with name custom.css.
