Please tell me why the “You are here:” text is visible even though I have the breadcrumbs module disabled? How do I remove the “You are here:” text from my site?

Do you want rid of the whole block? That is very simple/ Simply go into your templaye manager, click on the layouts tab and then click on the edit button for whatever layout you are using.

Look for the following line and remove it.

<block name="breadcrums" type="navhelper" main-inner="1"></block>

Then clear your jat3, joomla and browser caches and that should fix your problem.
