Hi,

I guess the article on front page of your site is not assigned to any menu item so that you click to open, it’s still displaying under frontpage menu item.

You can try to create a new menu item (or use an existing one) and assign that article (or category that article belongs to) to that menu item.

It’s default behavior of Joomla page, the redirection of a page will be decided by the menu item it belongs to.
