I have a lot of broken links for my site mainly because I had to rebuild the site.
The Joomla redirect plugin is displaying a lot of expired URL’s and I am wondering if deleting this URL’s or editing and pointing them all to the main page for the site will help.

Will appreciate any suggestions on how to handle the broken URL’s to help avoid 404 error pages etc

It’s pretty hard to suggest the solution for you without clue. You can send the info of your site: URL and admin access via private message. I shall help you to check it further.
