January 25, 2011 at 2:34 am #373613Hi kayz,
I visited both your sites. With your detailed explanation, I can relate with some of the problems you are encountering.
My perspective is based from using the Teline series of templates, in comparison with the default Joomla kit templates, and a number of Joomlart templates that I tried.
That you are able to install the templates and extensions, independent of the Joomla package indicate that you understand the process much better than I do.
I had problems with separate installation of the template or Joomlart extension Considering my own limitations and lack of expertise in programming or scripting, I always use the the QuickStart kit. The advantage here is that it would be easier to find out after the installation, if one is able to replicate the Joomla Demo site.
If there is any problem or even the slightest error that I do not understand. I start anew instead of wasting time agonizing about the cause of the problem or coming here to ask why my installation did not work.
From the Demo as starting point, I then subtract all features that I consider to be whistles and bells. I also discard modules and features that I consider to use too much resources, or could slow down the site. From what you explained below, it appears that indeed, as I surmised in my previous response, some of the layout problems you encountered are cases of the pieces not coming together fast enough, as the browser algorithm is trying to recreate your creation. Maybe you can relate with this analogy about a “well-planned wedding” orchestrated by a wedding planner. Every aspect were assured to be ready, as assured by the various subcontractors, and participants — the church(temple), the rabbi, minister or priest, the wedding dress, the caterer, the photographer, the wedding singer, etc., etc. Ceremony, dinner rehearsals were even planned so all the possible eventualities would become a surprise.
The wedding day comes. And the saying, “when rains, it pours”, or some similar phrasing happens.
Imagine the impact on the wedding if the caterer’s transport got ensnared in traffic, or got bombed in a Middle East setting. A flash flood happened and the bride’s dress was one of the casualties. The African American church was burned by an arsonist. All the aforementioned scenarios were reported here in the US network news.
Less bizzare scenarios, but with significant impact, some key personnel got sick or some other unforseen and uncontrollable event.
The wedding won’t be perfect or would not be as envisioned by the wedding family or the wedding planner — even if before the wedding, everything were indeed ready.
In a sense, similar scenarios could mar your well-made website presentation for one reason or another. Some could be resolved, other could not.
Simplicity rules:
There is elegance in basic simple design. It has the added benefit of potentially being much faster, also.
If it simpler, and it is faster, it is less affected by high traffic in the internet. Always remember that our site data is transmitted as fragmented “pockets of light or electromagnetic signals” carried along with other signals from all over the world wide web, and along with other signals from all sorts of communications. If one of those pockets of light is delayed or misplaced and do not arrive on time, your website layout would be messed up.
Cornelio
N.B. I will point out some issues that may contribute to the problems in your site later.

January 27, 2011 at 4:59 pm #374106Thanks all, for your responses.
It is strange though everything seems to be intact except the menu on my Windows 2003 server. All other websites turn out to be fine.
However i have had phill check for me on various browsers himself, i have also check with a few friends and so far everything seems to be fine. It just could be a problem with the servers browser or something, it really is peculiar.
Thank you again for your support.
