April 23, 2008 at 11:53 am #127827I am generally happy with the templates created by JA.
The forums are also quite useful but do need to be organised a bit better. There is a lot of duplication and the links to downloads are very confusing.
I am not happy with the lack of communication with customers when serious problems are encountered. Specifically, the RSGallery in Avian II has been a disaster – mapping between images and the database is broken in bad ways. Beyond acknowledging the problem, JA seems to have done nothing to correct the situation. A bugfix version was promised for 29 March. It never arrived. Nothing about this since then, despite some thorough reporting of the issues over the last few weeks by JA customers.
I’m posting here out of desperation because posts to the RSGallery Bugs sticky thread in the Avian II section have gone unanswered for weeks now. So my apologies for not enthusiastically joining into the cheer squad….
thanks,
Sean

April 25, 2008 at 10:04 am #246794Hi Sean
Thank you for your feedback.
I have seen most of your problem is with the RSGallary, as specify at this thread there are hidden issues of this component that we had not expected. In the effort to develop a template can work with other component, the integration of the gallery into JA template was originally a nice idea but we are not developer of the RSGallary and the support for RSGalllery is almost above our head.
However, we are responsible to provide the support for the RSgallery as much as we can. As you can see the our developer (nguoiabcd) has tried his best to solve most of the issues.
RSgallery is not a module or a small component. In fact, it is huge and the most complicated gallary component of Joomla at the moment. It’s own developer take year to develope and bug fixes.
Sean, please help us to seek the solution on the RSGallery forum as well. However, if you have any problem, you can always pm nguoiabcd with your site fpt and admin information and he certainly try his best to help you out.

April 25, 2008 at 10:09 am #246796I apologize for the inconvenience cause. We got a little troubles while fixing RSGallery2 component since it’s not our product. It takes a litle bit long in collecting bugs and issues to send to our Developers.
However, we are fixing all the reported issue of Avian at the moment. Would you mind to send me the issues that you’ve had? It’s will be very useful with us.
Also, I will update the package of Avian very soon for you to download.
Thank you very much for you inconvenience.1 user says Thank You to kashxo for this useful post

April 25, 2008 at 11:09 am #246804Thankyou for the response Hung.
I did not know that nguoiabcd was a JA developer. It does not say this in his signature and he didnt say in his posts that he was developer assigned to the RS Gallery issues. I thought he was a forum member offering to help individuals fix problems with their sites – this is useful, but it doesnt fix bugs, it fixes the results caused by bugs only for that customer. But It does seem that I made an incorrect assumption.
So, I withdraw my complaints about lack of communication, as it is now clear that the developer had indeed responded to posts and had said he was working on fixes.A suggestion: can JA please ensure that developers clearly state that they are a JA developer when they post to the forums? This would really help newcomers like me.
Thankyou again!
Sean
