September 16, 2009 at 12:15 am #144250There is a serious bug in the module which is really bad for SEO and is throwing 404’s with sef switched on. It’s displaying the wrong links to the sections causing duplicated content:
From the demo (no sef):
World:
http://templates.joomlart.com/ja_teline_iii/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&id=13:world&layout=blog&Itemid=457http://templates.joomlart.com/ja_teline_iii/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=13&Itemid=457
in my case with the joomla sef switched on:
mysite.com/section/41-section/ (wrong and throws 404)
mysite.com/section (should be)ukfraternite Friendukfraternite

September 21, 2009 at 11:56 pm #318050I don’t have a link as I’m working on it locally, in any case a link isn’t needed as you can look at it on the demo:
http://templates.joomlart.com/ja_teline_iii/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&id=13:world&layout=blog&Itemid=457
http://templates.joomlart.com/ja_teline_iii/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=13&Itemid=457Both links are the same page but with different urls, the top one has the word ‘world’ added to it and is the link created by the ja news module when you click on the ‘World’ section. The bottom link is from the main menu ‘World’.
When the default joomla sef is turned on Ja-news messes up the section links as i said above:
e.g.
normal link: mysite.com/travel (correct link from the main menu)
ja news section link: mysite.com/37-travel (causes a 404 as the link’s wrong – there are a few posts now complaining about this)Having more than one page of the same content with different url’s is bad – people end up linking to both, diluting page rank and causing other seo problems. The ja-news module should use the default joomla links not make up additional ones! Is a fix going to be released for this and when?

I use sh404SEF 1.5.0.250 and the URL’s work nicely.</blockquote>
Does that mean we all have to use sh404SEF??? There is no indication on the instructions that we need to.
I’d appreciate if anyone could confirm this.
Thank you!
