September 28, 2009 at 7:01 pm #144670A number of members have noted this problem — the correct ordering of Categories in each Section (view for example: Bug: Section Categories don’t order Correctly). And, some Moderators have given the impression from their responses and assurances that this issue would be addressed in the Teline III v1.3 update.
Unfortunately, this issue has not been addressed in Teline III v1.3 update as shown here:
Joomlart: JA Teline III Sandbox 500
http://joomlart.bayanihan-saranay.org/1500/[View revisions of the Category in the Category Manager and the Magazine Menu below.]
As far as Teline III is concerned, this issue — the correct ordering of Categories in each Section — is more important than peripheral extensions like Weather or Stock modules, This problem (bug) should have been given utmost priority.
Scotty diagnosed the problem as follows:
<em>@scotty 145412 wrote:</em><blockquote>This will be fixed in V1.3 which will be available in the next day or two.The problem is that JA News 2 arranges Categories by their ID rather than their ‘Order’ in the Category Manager.</blockquote>
If there is anyone who knows their scripting have any idea how to fix this, it would be appreciated. Thanks.
Cornelio

Notes:The related BackEnd modifications to the Demo are outlined below.
The order arrangement of the categories in each Section does not follow the order imposed in the BackEnd. The example shown below is for the Section: “Our World Today”
Category Manager
- 1 Canada and U.S.A. 82
- 2 Europe & Eurasia 81
- 3 Africa 84
- 4 Asia and Pacific 89
- 5 Latin America & Caribbean 88
- 6 Middle East & N. Africa 83
Magazine Menu
- 13 Canada & USA 459
- 14 Europe 458
- 15 Africa 461
- 16 Asia & Pacific 463
- 17 Latin America & Caribbean 462
- 18 Middle East & N. Africa 460
Observation:
The aforementioned order arrangement is not followed in the actual Homepage layout of the JA News2. The correct order — in one Section modified (World) — but was observed in the submenu for the Section; in Teline III v1.3 update as shown here:

September 30, 2009 at 5:10 pm #319185Thanks JA Developer
After more script revisions as proposed by JA Developer and further revised by Scotty, an interim fix works, as discussed in the thread linked by JA Developer.
In the same thread, based on the script revision, I included also my observations where the “ordering” of the categories may work. Confirmation of these observations by others should benefit users of the Teline III.
I hope this fix will be added or refined further in the next update of Teline III.
Presentation of Categories in JA News2 Teline III
One issue related to the presentation and ordering of categories and contents using the JA News2 would be how to situations where there are many categories in a Section, as noted also by others. This will be presented as a separate thread.
Thanks.
