    Hi Everyone

Thought I’d share this with you even though I’ve already found a workround. I’ve discovered a real strange bug with the “system-pagebreak” function.

Not sure if this is a bug with Joomla 1.5.3 which may have been fixed in later releases? I would really appreciate somebody trying this with a later version of Joomla to see if it still happens!

OK. I’ll try to explain. Over the last few days we’ve had some really weird problems with multi-page articles. We were inserting the pagebreak where we wanted it, but when the article was published, the pagebreak happened somewhere else! For instance:

As you can see from the published article below, the actual pagebreak occurred around 6 paragraphs earlier than where it should be according to the code:

No amount of ‘moving’ the pagebreak around, deleting it from the HTML and reinserting it would make any difference, it always published with the pagebreak in the wrong place!

In the end, we removed the pagebreak from the HTML in the problem articles and left them as very long pages. 😉

Anyway, today one of my staff report the same problem to me, so I open the article editor to take a look and immediately spot something interesting … this member of staff had been using ‘horizontal ruler’ in her article:

and, I remembered that I had also used a ‘horizontal ruler’ in the articles where I experienced the ‘moving pagebreak’ issue previously.

So, I checked the HTML and … it appears that the pagebreak had actually been moved to the position of the first “hr” command:

I deleted the code for the horizontal ruler, and this fixed the pagebreak problem. The article published as it should with the pagebreak in the correct position.

Anybody else got this weird problem? Could somebody please try and replicate this problem using a different Joomla version to 1.5.3.

Tip: Avoid using horizontal ruler with multi-page articles! 😀

Thanks for taking the time to read this rather lengthy history!!

    Cheers
    Chris
