Summary Observation:A Cloned Module in the Joomla 1.6 – Teline IV automatically alters the specifications (number of articles, size of images, text aiw specification, etc.) found in the Original Module. Not Affected: The name of the original and module clone, as well as their assigned locations.

Can others please try this in a Joomla 1.6 – Teline IV. The module I documented is the:

    JA News Featured Module

The default module was found in the Demo (Joomla 1.6 Teline IV) in the right 1 position. I changed the specifications, renamed it Discover, and placed it in the right1 side, in moat of the contents and locations, except the sl1-r (right column top) in the Front Page.

I cloned the JA News Featured Module, renamed Spotlight modified with intent to be placed and appear only in the Front Page sl1-r (top right column) of the site..

Crazy Observations: Change the feature specifications in the clone (Spotlght). So far so good.. However, without touching the original (Discover) module, if you look at the position of the original module, the features also would change.

Now, try to change the feature specifications of Discover, and without touching the Spotlight module, this time the feature specifications of the latter will also change to conform to the new changes in the Discover.

Repeat the process in the cloned module, and you get the same automated changes in the other, and vice versa.

The above observations never happened in any of the modules I cloned in Teline II or Teline IV in a Joomla 1.5 setting.

    Notes:

    1. I unpublished the default “Most Popular” Module found in the same location
    2. In Joomla 1.5 (whatever Joomlart template you use), if you clone a module — rename it, change whatever parameters you want, and then place it in your desired target position.

    Example:

NewsFlash Module 1 => (module public name) = Newsflash ***

NewsFlash Module 2 => (clone module public name) = Odyssey**

Examples of the above are shown in this Joomla 1.5-Teline IV SandBox

Are you using J1.6? How did you accomplish this byline:

    SATURDAY, 25 SEPTEMBER 2010 11:03 ADMINISTRATOR

Rather than the usual: DETAILS followed by a long string of stats? (My current support obsession.)

    Hi thangnn,

I am glad someone from the staff noticed this bug report. Kindly send me a note, or post a resolution response here, once it is resolved.

    Thanks.

    Hi ithacaindy,

Are you addressing me or thangnn?

To avoid such confusion, I always include a greeting or at least the name of the poster. That way, there is no confusion. And, just one of my policies on what I consider a more civil discourse. I do not know why this is observed in internet forums.

If the inquiry was addressed to me, I installed both the Joomla 1.5 and 1.6 versions. I mistakenly posted the Joomla 1.5 Teline IV Sandbox above — too sleepy when I did this (I try to do this usually later at night).

That is the default byline (author) if the Author is left blank. It has always been like that in all my installations since I started using Joomla.

The code is “Administrator” for Joomla 1.5 and “Super User” for Joomla 1.6 to refer to the Super Administrator. This confirms that the site is I posted above is a Joomla 1.5. Also, there are extra modules included in the above Sandbox installation that works only on Joomla 1.5, it will not install in Joomla 1.6 because they have not been upgraded yet.

Yes, the question was addressed to you. I’m trying to get my Joomla 1.6 Teline IV’s byline to appear the same as in Joomla 1.5.

    ithacaindy,

Just fill up the blank space with “Ithaca Independent Editor” including your name or however you want to authorhip of the article. It always works.

    Dear cgc0202!

We have checked again and reviewed with the coders. If you clone module please also clone the profile in Profile settings tab. Because when we use the same profile, the setting for module will be stored to one file, cloned module will user this file with the source module. Clone profile will make the new file to store cloned module setting. So you’ll have 2 profile file to save setting for 2 modules. You won’t see the bug using the same setting as reported.

    Regards!

    Thanks thangnn.

Can you please illustrate, or if possible with cartoons showing the steps in the Feature module editor.

At least the sequential steps, which begins like this:

    Backemd
    => Modules
=> => place “x” in box to the left of the “JA News Featured Module”
=> => => Click “Copy” (at the top of the Editor window of the module)

The above schematic diagram provides enough detail for less tech savvy members like myself to clone the Module itself.

What would be the equivalent schematic diagram to clone the Profile?

This module has great promise once I get it to work.

By the way, I did not see this module among the stand alone modules in the Teline IV Joomla 1.5 Where do I get a zip file for this?

    Thanks.

    Dear cgc0202!

    Regarding your questions:

<blockquote>What would be the equivalent schematic diagram to clone the Profile?</blockquote>Please go to admin -> Extensions -> Module Manage -> edit module that use news featured. In “Profile Selection” parameter click to clone to clone a profile.
