How to make the built-in reCaptcha of Joomla 2.5 work in the customized Contact Form of JA Mendozite?

Site URL : Filipino chat, classifieds, buy & sell
The particular form can be found at http://centrongpinoy.com/contactus

    Versions : Joomla version: 2.5.4

    Template version: Mendozite 1.0

3rd Party : Brief us of any 3rd party components / modules in use:
No 3rd party module except the ones that came with a quickstart package like K2 and Kunena

Incubation period: When did the problem first occur?
I enabled the reCaptcha that came with Joomla 2.5 and provided the keys. It’s working out of the box in the forms for registration, forgot-username, forgot-password but does not work in the contact form which is linked in the menu.

What have you done since? To sort of secure the contact form, i installed EasyCalcCheck Plus and set it to work only on the contact form.

By the way, is the one at http://centrongpinoy.com/contact-us the default contact form? It’s also not working good as a contact form.

Thanks in advance for any help you can extend.

Any one tried if it really works and my issue is only an isolated case?

    Hi phicts,

have you enabled the Captcha – ReCaptcha plugin as well as the captcha setting in Global configuration ? I installed a demo of Ja Mendozite for checking and I did not see the mentioned problem, the problem also can be related to your third party extension, you can try to switch to a default joomla template to see if the problem occurs.

I have no 3rd party extension yet when I enabled the capthca – recaptcha plugin of Joomla. It worked fine out of the box on these three forms: Registration, Remind Password, Remind Username.
It didn’t work only on the Contact form so I had to use easycalcplus for the meantime.
I’ll try what you’ve suggested and report back here.
Thanks for your reply Sherlock Holmes. nice name. 🙂

It’s me again. I already disabled easycalcplus recaptcha and switched the template to beez2-default but there’s still no recaptcha in the Contact form.

Moreover, when i checked the box for a copy to myself, i got an automated reply from JOOMLART.COM! It reads,

    hi phicts,

Do you have a recaptcha keys to enter into back-end of the Captcha – ReCaptcha plugin ? if not please register at the recaptcha site, if you can pm me your admin account I will take a look for you.

How can I have captcha in the registration, username and password recovery if I don’t have the keys? I’m sure about my keys. My problem is in the contact form only and I run around it by installing easycalcplus.

I cannot give you admin credentials at the moment. Thank you for your willingness. I really appreciate it.

I finally found it. To enable the captcha – recaptcha in the contact form, it must be set at

    Administrator backend > Components> Contacts> Contacts

Then click Options (beside the Trash icon)

Click the Form tab (between List Layouts and Integration tabs)

In the field Allow Captcha on Contact, select Captcha – ReCaptcha, not -Default-

Click Save & close. Of course, the captcha – reCaptcha module of Joomla should be enabled first with the keys.

Thanks for your time and effort, Sherlock Holmes.
