December 3, 2011 at 3:06 pm #171414Evening Joomlart Staff,
I am having problems everytime I update my site. When I click clear cache and go back to my site all I see is a text list of the main menu items appearing on the left hand side of the page.
It can take some 15-20 minutes for the site to come back up again. I posted in the general forum and the answers suggested it could be a hosting issue. I asked my hosting people and they said it was a template issue.
I have enclosed my admin info. Can someone have a look and see if there is a setting problem that is causing this to happen.

December 3, 2011 at 3:28 pm #427745Jim,
I took a look and most of your compression settings were “off” (GZip Compression, Optimize CSS, and the biggie ‘Enable Development mode’) All of these certainly help to speed up your site during ‘normal business hours’…but can be a burden during development.
Let’s see if that clears up the problem for you. If not, we’ll take a look at other measures.
Perhaps turning off the “User Friendly URL” setting which isn’t as important as it used to be.Have a GREAT weekend.
John.

December 3, 2011 at 4:07 pm #427753Thanks John for the prompt response. Unfortunately, it is still doing the same thing.
As soon as I hit Clear Cache in the admin section and go to the site it has gone funny again

December 3, 2011 at 8:26 pm #427807Okay…wow…I can’t replicate it.
In IE, FF, Opera, Chrome, Safari…all is well here. What browser & version are you using?
When you say you are clearing cache…are you meaning in the back end of Joomla or on your browser? Also, try turning off the User Friendly URL config setting, clear cache and then try.

December 4, 2011 at 12:43 pm #427878Thanks JW,
That last one worked the trick. Now when i make a change and clean cache the site stays up and a few minutes later the changes come through.
Now if I can just work out why my Partners Slide Show is not appearing in Content Mass Bottom I will be a happy man.

December 4, 2011 at 2:20 pm #427884Terrific! Now that we know that…we you go back in and turn off the cache.
The User Friendly URL is an issue you’ll have to resolve with your host, if you want to mess with it.
It’s an .htaccess thingy. Now as for the Slide Show not showing. If you could create a new thread for that, would be great!
Enjoy your Sunday.
