September 26, 2011 at 3:36 pm #168970Can anyone recommend an SEO extension for 1.6.5 on up that works with Teline IV? We’ve been going back and forth with SH404SEF tech support for months after finding that product causes a great deal of problems to our site, including content that no longer shows up, broken forms, etc. At first the tech person we were assigned blamed the Teline IV template and provided no assistance. The second tech support person acknowledged there was a problem and it would be put into the list of issues to address for their next update — but gave us no timeline. Hence, we completely wasted our money on that product, as we plan to launch our new Joomla-based website by next month.
Our most critical reason for buying SH404SEF was to recreate URLs from our existing legacy site that the new site will replace. Has anyone used an extension that can do this and works with Teline IV?
Thanks.

September 26, 2011 at 3:50 pm #415067All of the problems we identified as due to SH404SEF disappeared when we re-installed Joomla and Teline IV last month and DID NOT install SH404SEF for three weeks. As soon as we installed SH404SEF, we saw the problems return. So, we are certain that the issues are related to SH404SEF and the second tech support person responding to us admitted it, but again, gave us no idea when they would fix the problem and offered us no support for our site. Of course, that’s incredibly disappointing.
Today, I again uninstalled SH404SEF from our site and the site is now working properly again (for the most part).

September 26, 2011 at 3:50 pm #415068Hi,
Well, i know that sh404sef is working perfectly on Ja Teline IV for J1.5.x but i haven’t build any site on J.1.6 or J1.7 so far ( i am old fashioned and i prefer to wait some time more for the next long release version of Joomla. )
But i am pretty sure that i have seen web sites of other members here on J.1.6.x and on J1.7.x with sh404sef and without any problems.
The only one that i knew with problems was not an English one.
I can take a look and try to help you with this issue if you like even though it’s not JA related issue but hey, we all are Joomla’s funs here after all!!
Regards

September 26, 2011 at 4:15 pm #415078Okay, I’ll reinstall SH404SEF. But first, if you want to see one of the sections of the sites that disappears, click on this link: http://marketingtoday.net/articles/featured/archives1 — that whole category section of articles completely disappears after we install SH404SEF.
How can I send you our private backend site info (i.e., logins)?
BTW, thanks much for the help!

September 26, 2011 at 4:31 pm #415084Okay, would you mind taking a look at that section now before the link and after you do that, I’ll install SH404SEF and all of the content for that category will disappear and let you know. It does the same thing for other areas, but this example is indicative of the problem. I don’t know what makes this category different than the rest. The settings in Joomla appear the same as other categories.

Thanks.

September 26, 2011 at 6:41 pm #415118@manos Okay, I just installed SH404SEF and the section I linked you to (as well as other parts of the site), http://marketingtoday.net/articles/featured/archives1, is no longer working (the content has disappeared from view).

September 26, 2011 at 7:02 pm #415122My business partner just found the root of the problem affecting that section. He said it was “a permissions issue for “Public” For some reason, this category isn’t rendering to public, even though it’s set to.”

September 26, 2011 at 7:12 pm #415125Here’s another category that has content that is not rendering (except for one story/article) since we re-installed SH404SEF. My partner is unable to fix that issue (it’s not the same problem/solution as with the “Archive” category).
http://marketingtoday.net/articles/onlineoffline
From a message my partner sent me:
“Some of the category blog views work. some don’t. deleting them in the myphp and recreating them in Joomla doesn’t fix the issue. By “them” I mean menu items.”
