Hi.
I have downloaded the JA-Ores template, and would like to know if I can duplicate the template in order to do some modifications on the duplicate.
I would like to have the original version and my modified version to be able to switch between in the template manager.
So my question is: Can I duplicate the template, and in that case which files do I rename in the duplicate?

    Best regards –

Hi, and thanks for your answer.
When I try to follow the link to the thread that you gave me, I get an error message:
“steenmf, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons: …..”

And yet I have recently payed for a one year´s JATC Standard Membership, which should include access to the JATC Joomla forums.

Any clue to why I am denied access to this thread??

Hi this is the procedure try it

How to rename your joomla template in Joomla 1.7 – A step by step guide

In this guide we take for example the ja_Bistro installed template

    1) Goto joomla path/templates/Ja_bistro, copy the folder Ja_bistro and rename it in the name you like, in our case it will be ( your_new_template ) so in your templates folder you will have all olds template and a new folder named your_new_template

    2) In your_new_template folder open the file templateDetails.xml at line 7 you have
change to

    3 ) At line 37 you have
change to

    4 ) At line 41 you have
change to

    5 ) Goto joomla path/administrator/language/en-GB/ rename the file en-GB.tpl_ja_bistro.ini to en-GB.tpl_your_new_template.ini

    6 ) Goto joomla path/languages/en-GB/ rename the file en-GB.tpl_ja_bistro.ini to en-GB.tpl_your_new_template.ini

7 ) Login in your backend and goto Extension –> Extension manager–> and click on the Tab Discover–>

8 ) Now if all steps are done correctly should appear your_new_template, select it and click on install

9 ) Goto Extension –> Extension manager–>Template Manager and set your_new_template as Default template

10 ) Goto Extension –> Extension manager–>choose Tab Manage–> in the select type rows choose template

11 ) Select the Ja_bistro template and uninstall it

    12 ) Clear your JaT3 cache

13 ) That’s all now you have renamed your template and you have your_new_template as the default template
