Greetings,
I am a Joomla web developer and have been using RocketThemes for a while now. I have just signed up for a standard membership Joomlart to try out your templates. By using both clubs I can get access to a diverse pool of templates to work from.
As part of what I do, I heavily modify a commercial template to give my clients a look that is a bit more customized than the templates everyone is downloading. As part of this, I was sad to find that the Avior psd files only had headers and module boxes in them. Do you make the complete mock up available so that I can work on the design as a whole?
This is a huge deal for a guy like me. Without that I cannot justify stepping up or renewing my subscription.
Thanks
Jack
affinityav.comFebruary 25, 2007 at 5:45 pm #214972If you’re already making templates for commercial customers you should be able to afford a 3 month subscription even just to try the templates out.
Come on, just stop going to Starbucks and eating fast food for a month and you’ll have more than enough money.
February 25, 2007 at 6:01 pm #214973i did buy the 3 month subscription. That’s why I was disappointed to see the PSD files did not include a complete, layered page layout.
So basically for me to show a layout mockup of a JA template (that I have customized) to my client I have to recreate the whole layout from scratch.
I can’t see any developer (who is normally short on time) using templates that doesn’t have the complete layout psd or fireworks png.
I’m not really knocking JA. I’m just saying that if they want to get more commercial web developers buying their subscriptions they need to help us cut production time, not add to it.
Take care,
jack

February 26, 2007 at 2:20 am #214988Hi williamconifer,
As Joomla developer, I believe that you know how complicated a joomla template design process can be. At JA, we do not convert a template from a fully sliced PSD image. We only design some elements vi Photoshop such as header images, icons, deviders and individual grahic elements.
Therefore, we will provide all of the available PSD graphics that we have.ShannonN FriendShannonN

February 26, 2007 at 3:52 pm #215002Hung I asked in a different thread if /when you wil convert the psd files you supply to png and supply, I never saw your answer?
Like at design time it takes 5 seconds longer to save as a png in Photochop adding no development time to the project but giving your customers who use Fireworks better graphic access.

March 2, 2007 at 10:54 am #215159ShannonN: I understand what you are saying, however it isn’t a quick 5 second job. It really does depend on the way they develop the templates and as Hung suggests, they do each image bit by bit. (as you can tell by the good quality results.)

March 2, 2007 at 1:15 pm #215167I disagree, I can load the finished psd in photochop, select save as (.png) and I have a png
Whats so hard about that? I do mean convert the finished psd to a png, not bullshit each step etc

March 3, 2007 at 3:50 am #215202ShannonN: They do not create a template as one single PSD file. Whilst many people do this, Joomlart do not. They create each image in a separate PSD and that’s the reason why they cannot just open it up and save as a PNG.
